One of my nearest and dearest friends came to visit me for the weekend. Sandi and I’ve been friends since grade school, so she’s been there for everything from the awkward middle school moments, to high school proms, to college memories and now adult life. She knows me better than almost anyone, so I was really excited to spend time together and show her around the Mile Square City and NYC.
The highlight of the weekend was our excursion to Brooklyn yesterday. We made our way from Hoboken to Williamsburg with two things in mind: good food and local beer. Our first stop was brunch at Rosarito Fish Shack, which is my favorite Mexican place in the neighborhood. Even though it was 45 degrees and snowy outside, I felt like I was eating at a beachside lunch spot once I stepped inside Rosarito’s, decorated with bright buoys, anchors and ropes. Sunlight streamed in from the big, bright windows.
Once we finished our avocado toast and huevos rancheros, we made our way down Wythe Street to the Brooklyn Brewery. I’ve lived in the area for 3+ years and still hadn’t been to this iconic brew house, so I thought this would be the perfect Saturday afternoon activity for us. We waited in the tasting room, sampling different Brooklyn brews, until the 3 p.m. tour started. My favorite was the Bel Air Sour Ale, a tart, yet fruity brew. We ended the day with dinner at SEA Thai, our second-favorite cuisine next to Mexican.
I very much enjoyed exploring new things in NYC with one of my best friends. Can’t wait for our next visit, Sandi. 🙂
