You could say the Hoboken engagement session is my specialty. I’ve photographed hundreds of these special sessions in the Mile Square City, and my favorite part is how each session is so unique to every couple. Some couples prefer the waterfront, some like a more urban vibe, and others visit their first date spots. Well, on an unusually warm Saturday morning in January, Michelle & Brian incorporated all three of these into their engagement session.
I started the morning with Michelle & Brian at the beach near Maxwell Pier in Hoboken. This is a great shoot location because it has perfect views of the Empire State building and midtown. I snapped away as the waves lapped and the sun rose over the NYC skyline and glittered against Michelle’s beautiful blonde locks.
Next, we moved to Court Street for a more urban, industrial look. Court Street is another gem of a location because there are so many different colors, textures and looks within a span of a few blocks. Also, cobblestones! Do I need to say anything else?
Our last stop was at McSwiggans, an Irish bar downtown Hoboken where Michelle & Brian had their first date! In order to get the shot I wanted, I ventured out into the middle of 1st Street and stood there to get a wide shot of Michell & Brian being cute and cozy in the pub’s doorway and capture the rest of the building in my frame. Hey, whatever it takes to get the shot!
I had a blast hopping around the Mile Square City for Michelle & Brian’s Hoboken engagement session. I’m excited to continue the fun at their Hoboken wedding in August! Check out this gallery to see more of their engagement session!
