When Nicole and Ray originally reached out about their micro wedding in Hoboken, the first thing on their wish list was candid wedding photos. The two of them love the authentic, raw, real moments and wanted them captured. I was beyond honored to be considered! While I do always take a balance of posed and candid wedding photos, it’s the candid wedding photos that truly fill in the gaps and the story of your wedding day. Every stolen glance, belly laugh, and happy tear – I want to freeze those moments in time. If you have a special place in your heart for those kinds of wedding photos, you’re going to love Nicole and Ray’s micro wedding in Hoboken as much as I did.
Hoboken Wedding Photography Review
Newlywed life is busy, and I am always so incredibly moved when couples take time out of their new life to leave me a review. Thank you, Nicole and Ray! I am so grateful you two found me, too!
Devin is the best and we were SO lucky to find her! We received our full gallery this week and are beyond speechless. Thank you for capturing our big day back in August! It was a true pleasure from the very first moment we spoke on the phone to our wedding day, and we cannot thank you enough for everything! We hope to see you around in the neighborhood!!
Starting the day with Groom Portraits!
It’s not often a wedding day starts with groom portraits for me, but I loved meeting Ray and his groomsmen at one of my favorite Hoboken wedding photo locations to kick off the day. Everyone looked absolutely dashing in their suits but I think “best dressed” is a tie between Ray and their sweet dog Norman!
First Look Wedding Photos in Hoboken
We didn’t spend too much time taking the groom and groomsmen portraits, because I knew Nicole and Ray couldn’t wait to see each other for their first look! Often when I ask couples what they are most looking forward to on their wedding day, they will say the moment they see each other for the first time (whether that’s a traditional aisle reveal or a first look!). Nicole and Ray were no exception and my heart reveled in how emotional they were as soon as they laid eyes on one another. Too sweet.
After the happy tears were wiped away, I took some wedding portraits of the two of them and some solo bridal portraits of Nicole! While I was snapping their photos, we made our way to the waterfront for Nicole and Ray to exchange personal vows before the ceremony.
Exchanging Vows on the Hoboken Waterfront
Is there a more epic location to exchange vows than the Hoboken waterfront? I have been living in Hoboken for what feels like an entire lifetime and the view never gets old. I was so grateful to document Nicole and Ray exchanging their vows. Like my own love story, Nicole and Ray met through work and the rest is history. Their first date (in Hoboken, of course!) was in January 2020. In August 2021, Ray took Nicole to the same restaurant as their first date and then dropped to one knee during a walk by the waterfront. It only made sense that they exchange their vows there, too!
If you love the idea of exchanging personal vows on your wedding day, but the thought of writing something to read in front of your family and friends makes you sweat a little, I highly recommend exchanging vows alone before your wedding ceremony. If you are curious, here are a few of my other favorite wedding day ideas!
After Nicole and Ray exchanged vows, we took photos with Nicole and her bridesmaids, and then photos of the entire wedding party! From there, we made the short walk to Kolo Klub. I was instantly reminded of one of the main reasons I love Hoboken weddings: Everything feels so close together! Who wants to waste a moment of their wedding day traveling?
Indoor Wedding Ceremony at Kolo Klub
I’ve said before that Kolo Klub is one of my favorite places for a micro wedding in Hoboken, but keep scrolling to see why! The space is always stunning, and I love how cozy the place feels. During the ceremony, you could feel the warmth between the two of them, too. Nicole and Ray are such a fun-loving couple and I have no doubt the friends and family they invited are the same. You could feel it. I will never stop loving the ambiance and intimacy a smaller guest list brings!
Wedding Reception Photos at Kolo Klub
The moment their wedding ceremony ended, cocktail hour began! From there, Nicole and Ray enjoyed one of the most incredible wedding receptions with heartwarming speeches, delicious signature cocktails, and a lot of dancing! One of my favorite moments of the night was when Ray’s dad interrupted his mother/son dance (planned of course!) and finished the dance. It was Ray’s parents’ 30th anniversary and I could not imagine a better way to celebrate.
A Cozy Micro Wedding Reception in Hoboken
Exactly one year after they got engaged, Nicole and Ray had the absolute best day. Their micro wedding in Hoboken was an absolute joy from the moment I met Ray to their last song of the night. Capturing their chemistry was a breeze. If you are looking for a sign to cut your guest list and have a micro wedding in Hoboken (preferrably at Kolo Klub), this is it!
