Returning to NYC City Hall for a wedding a couple of months ago brought me immense joy! Earlier this year, I shared a stunning winter micro wedding held there, and now I’m excited to share this even more intimate NYC elopement – just the couple and me (the photographer!) as their witness. After their elopement at NYC City Hall, we took some stunning portraits outside among the iconic Manhattan landmarks and then finished with some celebratory “just married” cocktails. It’s my pleasure to share those precious moments with you today! If you are thinking of getting married at NYC City Hall – just know that it’s always a good idea around here!
A Thursday Wedding at NYC City Hall
One of the many reasons why I love a city hall elopement is the relaxed timeline and (often) not feeling like you need to get married on a Saturday. I met Tayler and Govind on a Thursday afternoon at 2:30pm at the City Clerk’s office for their afternoon ceremony and when they exited City Hall married we were able to take their portraits around NYC without the typical weekend traffic we might find!
A Love Story Before Their NYC City Hall Wedding
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I care about your love story as much as I do about the wedding details. Tayler and Govind’s story is no exception. They met two years ago through a mutual friend, during Tayler’s first weekend living in Dallas. Despite Govind being in town just for a visit, the two hit it off and began dating soon after.
Their first year was long distance between Dallas and NYC, but finally, Tayler moved to NYC in January of last year to join Govind, who had been living here for 7 years. When they approached me to plan their elopement at NYC City Hall, they were excited to finally get married. They’ll celebrate their union with a bigger ceremony in India later this year, where Govind is from and I couldn’t be happier for the two of them!
When they originally approached me for their NYC City Hall wedding, they wanted it to be just the two of them. I’m always honored when couples choose me to be their wedding photographer but for this sweet wedding, I also got to be the witness!
Outdoor Wedding Photos in NYC
After a simple and sweet wedding ceremony, Tayler and Govind exited NYC City Hall ready to take their wedding portraits outside around NYC in the financial district. The two of them were absolutely GLOWING and when the portraits were complete, we headed to a fabulous Mardi Gras cocktail bar for them to enjoy some “just married” libations. This was a “true” elopement, where Tayler and Govind’s friends and family didn’t even know they were getting married! They started calling them and face-timing everyone during cocktails with the good news. It really was magical.
Planning an Elopement at NYC City Hall
Being a wedding photographer, City Hall has always been one of my favorite places to capture the special moments of a couple’s wedding day. I love capturing the genuine emotion of elopements and micro weddings at NYC City Hall. The couples are so focused on each other and the love they share. It makes for truly intimate images full of raw emotion. My goal is to tell their story in an honest and beautiful way and NYC City Hall provides me with that opportunity. I’m grateful for the chance to capture all the little details that make up their unique love story. If you are considering a City Hall wedding, make sure to get in touch here!
