I absolutely love a fall wedding in Jersey City (or really, anywhere). I have been so excited to share Julie and Matt’s wedding here on the blog because it was incredibly unique and personalized to them. Always a win in my books! Not to mention STUNNING. Plus, I like to keep my editing style a little moody and romantic, and their florals and decor photos turned out SO WELL (if I do say so myself). I loved every minute of it. Julie and Matt’s wedding was planned with the Love Wed Collective, a company specializing in Micro Weddings and Elopements in New Jersey and NYC. Mile Square Moments is lucky enough to be the preferred photographer, so I am no stranger to being wowed by all the magic we create.
New Jersey Wedding Photographer Review
Nothing warms my heart more than a review. Seriously, it means more to me than almost anything else. 2020 was a hard year, for wedding vendors and couples alike, and words like these make it all worth it. I absolutely adored capturing Julie and Matt’s New Jersey micro wedding. Thank you for the sweet review!
We found Devin and her company Mile Square Moments through the Love Wed Collective after our destination wedding in Colorado got canceled due to COVID-19 and we had to make new plans for a local microwedding. From the very first conversation with Devin I felt she understood me and totally got the vibe I was going for. She was super responsive and really helped us to make the perfect flow of our photography for that day.
Even helping us to coordinate the perfect First Look (We were unsure if we wanted to even do one and I’m so glad we listened to her) I loved that she made it easy to be in front of the camera was great at directing the best shots. Our pictures were EVERYTHING we wanted and we have received so many compliments on them. I was in love with every aspect of my pictures. From all the little details she captured to the candid shots I discovered when we got back our final pictures. Ordering our prints was even a delight because they came in adorable packaging wrapped delicately in tissue and a ribbon. I could go on and on but the fact is that we highly recommend Mile Square Moments.
A First Look in Jersey City at Van Vorst Park
About an hour before the ceremony, we met at Van Vorst Park (the ceremony location) for the first look in front of the fountain. Surrounded by sweet park benches and autumn leaves, these two were just striking. I always love when couples choose to do a first look – it’s such a sweet moment when you see each other for the first time on your wedding day. Both Julie and Matt looked absolutely dashing. After their first look, we took some photos by some Jersey City brownstones which always make the perfect backdrop for photos.
A Fall Wedding with Orange Florals
One of the sweetest moments of the day, was after the first look when Julie pinned Matt’s boutonniere on. It was just so intimate, and such a special moment to share between the two of them. I personally love how they tied in the orange of his boutonniere with the orange and white florals in her hair. If ever you were unsure about choosing a fall color palette for your fall wedding, let these photos put you at ease. You can scroll to the bottom of this post to get a list of all the incredible vendors that made their wedding a reality, but I think we need to give a special mention to the incredible florist at Love Wed Collective: A Petal to Peddle.
An Outdoor Micro Wedding Ceremony at Van Vorst Park in Jersey City
The gazebo at Van Vorst Park in Jersey City has been getting some attention this year! And it’s not hard to understand why – who doesn’t want to feel elevated and still surrounded by the park? Julie and Matt extended the fall florals theme to go up the railing of the gazebo which was such a nice touch. Instead of having guests seated beside the gazebo, their micro wedding guest list fit inside the space with them. Often, couples getting married outdoors are worried about having strangers walk by (or invite themselves to watch) so this was a great way to keep the ceremony intimate and private. Julie and Matt exchanged vows and rings right inside the gazebo.
A Unique Wedding Reception at Skinner’s Loft
I know as a New Jersey wedding photographer I probably shouldn’t play favorites, but their reception was one of my favorite parts of the day! Matt works at Skinner’s Loft, which made it a natural choice for the reception. When you have a unique reception venue, make sure to choose your decor pieces to complement the space and not fight with it. Julie and Matt set the mood with lots of candles, intimate table seating, and handwritten place cards for each guest. Who doesn’t love calligraphy touches on their wedding day? I also couldn’t help but be obsessed with their sweet bride and groom cat cupcake toppers!!
A Micro Wedding Package in New Jersey
As you may know, Mile Square Moments is the preferred photographer of the Love Wed Collective, offering micro wedding packages for couples getting married in New Jersey and New York. One misconception we hear, is that “micro wedding packages” can’t be personalized. That couldn’t be further from the case, and this unique fall wedding proves it. There is nothing “cookie-cutter” about micro weddings and this year we are finding couples who are choosing to move forward with their intimate guest list and not sacrifice the details. Although at Love Wed Collective, the team has created stunning design themes, there are SO many options to truly make your day your own. If you have been considering a micro wedding in New Jersey or NYC, you can reach out to the Love Wed Collective here. Mile Square Moments would love to photograph your micro wedding!
