I love a Hoboken wedding. If you loved Allie and Chris’ Hoboken wedding at Hudson table a couple of weeks ago, keep reading for even more joyful and emotional wedding inspiration right here in the Mile Square City. Last September, on a gorgeous fall day, Samantha and Anthony celebrated at two of my favorite Hoboken wedding venues: Antique Loft for the ceremony, and Kolo Klub for the reception. The day was incredibly sweet – keep reading for how they included their precious children in every single moment! – and FILLED with love. Although this started as a Hoboken micro wedding, there was really nothing “micro” about it. Samantha and Anthony filled each venue with their family and friends and didn’t miss a single moment to celebrate.
Hoboken Wedding Photographer
Samantha and Anthony (and the kids – John and Audrey!) were truly incredible to work with from start to finish. Samantha plans events for a living, and I can’t help but tear up a little when I read her review. I’m so grateful!
I honestly don’t even know where to start with Devin. I hired Devin as a photographer and she quickly because my go to for recommendations and in the end a true friend. Beyond her talent to capture your day – which I will get to. She is the type of person you want around you on your day. She is calm and steady and has your vision in mind every step of the way. Now let’s talk pictures- we got married September 18th and took of for Italy the 19th by the time we landed I had our previews. IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY WEDDING SEASON. I cried happy tears in the middle of a Rome airport.
She captured my husband’s love for me and my children. She captured all the small moments and as I looked at the photos I relived the feelings of the day. Every one I have showed says you can feel our happiness and that is purely because of Devin and her gift to bring a moment to life through her camera.
Devin was an all star to the point where every single guest commented about her as did my vendors. I have insisted she goes on every preferred vendor list and I am insisting you book her after reading this. She is a gift from start to finish and your pictures will be a dream come true.
I know I say this every week – but I’m also not the only one obsessed with this wedding! Last week, it was featured on Hoboken Girl, so if you want even more details and behind the scenes, make sure to check out their feature!
Getting Ready Photos at the Sheraton
Stress-free getting ready photos happen at hotels with good lighting. It’s just a fact. True to what was most important to Samantha and Anthony, John got ready with Anthony and Audrey with Samantha. As you will see, the children remained at the center of the entire day. As Samantha once said, “we are very lucky that our friends love our kids like their own”. Let me assure you, after spending just one day together, I can tell you without a doubt that John and Audrey are so very loved. It’s magic.
I spent about an hour with Samantha and Audrey getting ready, and then met Anthony and John to take the trolley (and a few candid groomsmen shots!) to the ceremony location. Everyone was ready for showtime!
Alternative First Look Idea: Bring in the Children!
I thought I got emotional with a father/bride first look, but Samantha and Anthony took it to another level having first looks include John and Audrey! First, we lined up Anthony and John with their backs facing away from where Audrey would arrive. When they turned around to see their precious flower girl, it was hard to tell who was more excited! You could feel the three of them have so much love for one another and it was an experience like no other.
After that, it was Samantha’s turn to cry! We set her and John up facing one another against a brick building near the wedding ceremony location (Antique Loft). His reaction seeing his mother dressed up and ready to walk down the aisle was PRICELESS. She started tearing up the second she saw him and it was just such a sweet, precious moment.
Antique Loft Wedding Ceremony
Antique Loft is always an incredible Hoboken wedding ceremony venue (that view!) but honestly, there wasn’t a dry eye during this wedding ceremony. You can tell that these two have found their person. One thing that stood out that I just loved, was how involved the kids were in the ENTIRE wedding ceremony. The officiant had them stand up front with them and be “helpers” throughout the ceremony. Next, during the ceremony, they performed a hand fastening ceremony where John and Audrey bound Samantha and Anthony’s hands together cementing them as a forever family. They were all equally excited to be “Monzos” (Anthony’s last name!).

After such an emotional and moving wedding ceremony, everyone was ready for some libations! Antique Loft set up a table of champagne for a few toasts after the ceremony. We took advantage of the gorgeous setting of Antique Loft’s balcony, and then headed to a few of Samantha and Anthony’s favorite places around Hoboken for their wedding photos before the reception!
Hoboken Wedding Photo Locations
After the ceremony, Samantha and Anthony took a few quick photos outside of Birch – where they first met at the gelato bar. After that, they headed to Basile’s Pizza for a slice of pizza as an *official* family of four. It was such a sweet moment and both Samantha and Anthony really allowed themselves to just be present and enjoy the moment. After they were filled with pizza and smiles, we took a few more wedding couple portraits around Hoboken and finished by the pier with a champagne pop! Samantha has had a few frames above her bed saved for future wedding photos and I *think* I understood the assignment. These two were a dream to photograph!
Hoboken Micro Wedding Reception at Kolo Klub
The owner of Kolo Klub has started treating me like family and honestly, I couldn’t appreciate this venue more. Kolo Klub is SO wonderful, not just with me as the wedding photographer, but with my couples each and every time. One of the things that Anthony mentioned he was most looking forward to throughout the wedding process (other than watching Samantha walk down the aisle – obviously), was their first dance as husband and wife. At home, Samantha and Anthony often put on John Mayer, drink wine, and dance around their kitchen while cooking together, so their first dance was a nice nod to their “everyday” relationship as well.
When it was time to cut the cake, they invited John and Audrey to assist, and they did so with pure joy in their eyes! After more dancing, I had the chance to take late night photos outdoors of the newlyweds (something I don’t often get to do as a wedding photographer!).
