Allie and Chris have a special place in my heart here at Mile Square Moments because they love Hoboken as much as I do. As a Hoboken wedding photographer, I frequently photograph in Jersey City, NYC, and all of the rural hidden gems in New Jersey and New York. With that said, my heart absolutely bursts when couples want to start the rest of their lives together right here in Hoboken. Allie and Chris held their wedding at Hudson Table, with the help of the Love Wed Collective team. It was everything that I love: personal, joyful, and incredibly loving. I can’t wait to share the gorgeous wedding photos that came from Allie and Chris’ Hoboken wedding on the blog today!
A First Look on Maxwell Pier
Is there a better wedding photo spot than one of the piers in Hoboken? Overlooking the Manhattan skyline, I set Allie and Chris up for their first look. When I first spoke with Allie, in preparation of their day, she felt like she hadn’t been much of a “traditional bride” and that the planning has stressed her out. Chris ended up doing most of it! Just know, if you are feeling that way, you are not alone. Don’t worry though – when the wedding day arrives, the extra planning is SO worth it.
Allie and Chris’ first look was buzzing with anticipation. When the two of them exchanged first glances, they broke out in giant smiles. From there, they laughed and danced on the pier as I captured some waterfront wedding photos before we headed to the venue. I also took the opportunity to capture individual shots of the two of them – including all of the incredible details like a unique jacket liner for him, and the stunning lace backing on her dress.
Want uniquely Hoboken wedding inspiration? Before we left the waterfront we walked over to Pier 13 – a very popular summer watering hole in Hoboken where Allie and Chris spent lots of time together when they were first dating! The flags, food trucks and colorful sidewalk were such fun additions to their wedding photos!
Hoboken Wedding Photos on Cobblestone Street
When it comes to Hoboken wedding photos, I always love to take advantage of the cobblestone streets. For Allie and Chris, we continued taking their wedding portraits throughout Hoboken neighborhoods and on a cobblestone street nearby their wedding venue (Hudson Table). I personally love the contrast between their waterfront photos and the more urban backdrops. We finished at the 14th Street Viaduct, where their families met us for a few photos before the wedding ceremony began! We finished off a few minutes early so they could relax a little, and I could sneak up and photograph the ceremony and reception setup before guests arrived!
Wedding Ceremony at Hudson Table
Similar to Kristy and Andrew’s wedding at Porta in Jersey City, Allie and Chris’ wedding ceremony and reception took place in the same location, with guests sitting at their tables during the ceremony. Honestly, this setup is growing in popularity for micro weddings and for good reason! Not only are guests more comfortable, but they get to spend a little extra time appreciating all of the incredible wedding details and mingling with family and friends. Definitely a win-win!
This rooftop wedding ceremony was absolutely gorgeous. Allie and Chris describe themselves as quiet and fun-loving and their ceremony was much the same. Taking place as the sun began to set, I took as many photos as possible to capture their sweet and genuine reactions to every line the officiant said. Chris’ dad was the officiant, so every word was personal to them, and felt incredibly special. One thing Allie mentioned she loved about Chris, was that when she said ”I love you”, he always responded with ”I love you” without the “too”, making a statement instead of a response. They both love that they can be themselves with each other, and be completely silly. I thought about that every time they smiled and laughed while exchanging vows! It’s always remarkable to be in the presence of true love. Easily the best part of my job!

After the wedding ceremony, Allie and Chris went right into their first dance as husband and wife. Halfway through, guests started to join them. It was such a celebration of love. After the dance, cocktail hour could begin!
Perks of a Micro Wedding
I don’t think it’s a coincidence when I asked Allie and Chris what they like to do together, they said they enjoy eating delicious food and drinking good wine and when I asked what they were most looking forward to on their wedding day, they said eating great food and celebrating with family and friends! Hudson Table certainly delivered on the food front! During their cocktail hour, which casually rolled into their wedding reception, Allie and Chris enjoyed what is one of the biggest perks of a micro wedding: quality time spent with each and every one of their family and friends. I loved capturing candids of them hugging their best friends, laughing with guests, and gathering for group shots with their favorite people.
An Evening Wedding at Hudson Table
Overall, the rooftop venue at Hudson Table was the perfect setting for Allie and Chris’ uniquely Hoboken wedding. Here’s hoping more couples follow suit and keep their wedding completely within the Mile Square City! I know I never get sick of the incredible photo backdrops and wedding venues here.
