Hudson House has only been open for a short time now, but it has quickly risen to be one of the top Jersey City wedding venues. With floor-to-ceiling windows (a photographer’s DREAM) and the most incredible rooftop for wedding photos (keep reading!), I couldn’t wait to photograph Kristen and Chris’ lively Hudson House wedding! The energy at this wedding was absolutely magnetic. This sweet couple was absolutely set up to have a stellar time and be present in every moment. If you have been considering a wedding at Hudson House and are looking for a little inspiration, today’s post is definitely for you! I’m still on fire from this gorgeous 4th of July wedding day.
Wedding Photo & Video Team in Jersey City!
Kristen and Chris’ stunning Hudson House wedding was a Mile Square Moments & Murphy Studio collaboration! As I see the videos come back from our weddings last year, I could not be more grateful for the incredible partnership I’ve had with Alan over the last year. He absolutely knocked it out of the park for Kristen and Chris!

Getting Ready at the Canopy by Hilton (in the Jersey City Arts District!)
I always love when couples book a hotel for the night before their wedding. It makes SUCH a beautiful getting ready space – you don’t need to worry about “mess” or “tidying up” you’re getting ready space before your photographer arrives. More than that, it feels so much more relaxing. And many hotels have great lighting and large windows! As a wedding photographer, I can never stress how much of a difference lighting makes.
Kristen and Chris had some beautiful wedding day details and I was able to capture a few candids & group photos as well. One of my favorite (unique!) wedding details was with Chris – he had the roman numerals of their wedding date embroidered under his collar! Another favorite moment of mine? The sweet and emotional first look Kristen had with her dad!
A Catholic Wedding Ceremony at St Ann Church in Hoboken
I can’t help but swoon a little bit when I have the chance to photograph a gorgeous Catholic wedding ceremony. We have some absolutely incredible Catholic churches in New Jersey. The architectural details are always incredible, and the tall ceilings add such drama to your wedding photos. It’s a favorite ceremony location of mine! On their wedding day, Kristen and Chris chose to keep things traditional. For example, they chose to forgo a first look before the wedding ceremony! The first moment they laid eyes on each other was walking down the aisle. After that, the excitement filled the entire room.
Transportation Between the Ceremony & Reception
More and more, I’ve seen couples opt for a solo car for just the two of them instead of renting a limo or bus to take them and their wedding party to the next destination together. Although I absolutely LOVE any alone time you can squeeze in with you and your new spouse, I adored the energy that Kristen and Chris’ bridal party brought to the transportation! Their incredible Jersey City wedding venue – Hudson House – was a 30-minute drive away and they made the most of the trip by popping champagne and celebrating! In short, rent the limo!
Hudson House Wedding Photos: The Best View in Jersey City
Hudson House has quickly become known for its incredible rooftop and we took full advantage of their unbelievable view for Kristen and Chris’ wedding photos! Not only did we take some classic wedding couple portraits (including some red and blue smoke bomb photos to celebrate the 4th of July), but we brought the entire wedding party onto the lawn for group photos. For Kristen and Chris, we had access to the rooftop to take some extra dreamy photos. The view from Hudson House wedding venue is easily one of the best in Jersey City. And of course, it didn’t hurt that these two absolutely could not take their eyes off of each other!
Hudson House Wedding Inspiration
At the beginning of this post, I promised you gorgeous Hudson House wedding inspiration and here it is! Kristen and Chris chose a classic and elegant color palette, and really let the venue shine behind their stunning decor and reception setup. What I loved most though? How lively this wedding was! Kristen and Chris barely sat down at their sweetheart table the entire night – one quick toast and the rest of the night was spent dancing and celebrating with their guests (which was what they were looking forward to the most on their wedding day anyway!).
Kristen and Chris are truly that social butterfly couple that you just can’t get enough of. Above all, their energy is infectious. Finally, at the end of the night, we snuck back up to the rooftop to take some photos of them watching the fireworks over NYC! A perfect ending to a fantastic wedding day.
