Today on the blog I get to feature Emily and Ryan – a Love Wed Collective couple who held their micro wedding in New York City! In case you aren’t familiar, Love Wed is a collective of New Jersey wedding vendors who are helping couples plan stunning and intimate weddings. On the website, you can find packages for City Hall weddings, elopements, or even micro weddings of up to 50 people. And I am the honored and delighted in-house wedding photographer! One thing we have all had to do this year (both wedding vendors and couples!) is adapt quickly to the times. I am thrilled to partner with a team that does just that. We know that just because you choose to have something smaller, doesn’t mean that you don’t still want it to be incredible. Please join me in celebrating Emily and Ryan’s stunning micro wedding in New York City!
A Love Wed Collective Micro Wedding in New York City
Getting Ready Photos at a Swanky New York Hotel
Emily and Ryan are local New Yorkers, so they chose the perfect venues for their micro wedding. All within walking distance! Emily got ready in a super swanky New York hotel (Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel) with views of the city from their oversized balcony! The getting ready team had these hilarious mustache capes and it was such a fun contrast to the stunning ladies getting ready in the chair! The nice thing about having their own space (in a hotel room vs. a salon) was that they could relax and celebrate with mimosas! The room had full-length windows which are always a photographer’s dream scenario for lighting!
First Look in their New York City Apartment
Another perk to being locals? We got to take these DREAMY first look photos on the rooftop of Emily and Ryan’s apartment building. I think this might go down as one of the most incredible views for the first look in Mile Square Moments history. Seriously, these photos leave me speechless. I could have spent all day there! We took a few bride and groom portrait photos but we weren’t really here for very long. I couldn’t wait to travel with them to the ceremony location!
Madison Square Park Ceremony
After the first look photos, Emily and Ryan walked together to the ceremony location. This New York City micro wedding took place at Madison Square Park and it was everything I could have hoped for. These two walked down the aisle together, hand in hand, and the entire park watched and cheered for them. Cue the waterworks because this was such a sweet moment! For the most part, the Love Wed Collective team kept the décor pretty natural and embraced the stunning environment. Emily’s bridal bouquet had tones of white, black, and green and in lieu of a ceremony arch, we grounded the space with a boho style rug against a large tree. I’m always a big fan of using what’s there and making it work for you! Simple definitely does not mean boring.
A Micro Wedding Reception at Madison Square Park
The timeline of the day was unique to Emily and Ryan. After the ceremony, they had a micro-wedding reception where they enjoyed a classic burger and fries dinner from Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. Does anyone else love when casual dining is paired with more formal touches like floral centrepieces and classic white table cloths? Emily and Ryan chose to have a sweetheart table – always a good idea if you want to actually eat on your wedding day! Because it was a micro wedding, we were able to do a celebratory toast and have the tables close enough together that guests could mingle easily. The celebration wasn’t over after dinner though! We snuck off to do a few more outdoor photos and then headed for a cocktail reception at a loft nearby.
Flat Iron Penthouse: A micro wedding reception in New York City
I’ve already mentioned how one of the things I love about micro weddings in 2020 is having couples keep all of the special touches, right? This micro wedding cocktail reception proves my point. This was complete with a hand-written welcome sign created by another incredible wedding vendor in the Love Wed Collective. Emily and Ryan could not have chosen venues with more incredible views in all of New York City, in my humble opinion. Seriously, can you believe they were all within walking distance of each other? After the afternoon picnic reception, Flat Iron Penthouse was the perfect place for more toasts, live music, and celebration. And of course – to let them eat cake!

The day was really just incredible. More than incredible, I was thrilled to have the date available as it actually took place on one of the most popular wedding dates of the year (October 10 or 10/10/2020). These vanity dates go fast so if you are interested in one for 2021 or 2022, make sure to check my availability by contacting me here if you think I might be the photographer for you. I would be thrilled to be considered! For more details on micro wedding packages by The Love Wed Collective, be sure to check out the website here.
