2020 has been an incredibly unique year for everyone. Truly, there’s no doubt that this year has been filled with ups and downs. Although our year didn’t look how it typically does, we did capture some incredible elopements and micro weddings all over New Jersey, New York – even Pennsylvania. Throughout, our couples proved time and time again that love waits for nobody and I couldn’t be more honored to be able to document their love stories as a New Jersey photographer.
Mile Square Moments: New Jersey Wedding Photography
Additionally, we have had some incredible Mile Square Moments ourselves this year, too. Our couples were featured on various platforms (BRIDES, Wedding Pro, Hoboken Girl) and it felt like we got to spread some love and light during a weird time. We were also incredibly honored to be named Hoboken photographer of the year by Hoboken Girl! Further, on a personal level, my husband and I became homeowners this year which I am beyond grateful for. Safe to say, 2020 definitely wasn’t all bad.
Micro Weddings and Elopements in 2020
In short, here’s a roundup of the incredible love stories we got to share this year. You’ll find endless inspiration here, from elopements under ten people (some with only two!) and micro weddings of various sizes (sorted as “under 50 guests” and “over 50 guests” – usually depending on what the COVID restrictions were at the time). After that, I think it’s safe to say I will be a New Jersey wedding photographer forever. Truly, I wouldn’t trade these moments for anything.

Danielle and Andre’s Columbus Square Park Wedding | June 12, 2020
When Danielle and Andre were forced to postpone for a second time, they decided to elope on their original wedding date – with almost no time to spare. After all, they planned their elopement at Columbus Square Park in under a week! When Danielle and Andre shared their first kiss, everyone in the park started cheering!

Can’t get enough of this wedding? Danielle shares some absolutely sage advice for other couples going through the same thing here on the blog.
Devin couldn’t have been better. We decided to elope 4 days out from our original wedding date after covid ruined our plans and her positivity, willingness to make it work and patience with me as I figured it out was beyond what is required of a photographer. Our images came back beautiful and better then I had ever expected. Her team was a joy to work with day of and the follow up process was also very easy. Highly recommended!
Ruani and Cortney’s Home Wedding in Jersey City | June 18, 2020
These two know how to make waves. For example, they have been featured everywhere: BRIDES magazine, Wedding Pro, even our very own Hoboken Girl! These two tied the knot on their front porch – on their 9-year dating anniversary. Their first kiss as husband and wife was met with eruptions of cheers and car horns from the neighborhood. Likewise, check out this post on BRIDES’ Instagram here – “With no scheduling limitations, we were able to choose the date we’d always wanted—the anniversary of the day we started dating.” It was a highlight in 2020 for sure.

As you can see above, these two have already been celebrated in many places! You can read about them on our own blog here. Ruani and Cortney left us the sweetest review and I can’t help but share it again here!
TLDR: Don’t think twice. Hire Devin now for a top-notch experience and the dreamiest photos!!!
The longer version: My now husband and I hired Devin with a month’s notice to photograph our elopement on our stoop (!), after our big wedding was postponed due to COVID-19 (and after restrictions were loosened to allow small outdoor gatherings–ours was a group of six, including Devin). Devin responded right away (key, for an anxious bride like me!), got on the phone with me to talk through my needs and vision (I had no idea of direction as we were quickly trying to pull together details), and offered me flexible options and custom pricing given the uncertainty with COVID-19. I was sold. From there, she checked in a few times, and, aside from a few shots I had in mind, I basically asked her to wing it for the wedding.
Her professionalism, frequent contact, and portfolio were enough to reassure me that I could trust she’d capture the day beautifully. And that she did.
She was flexible on the day of, and got right to doing what she does best so I could focus on my husband. She also took all safety precautions and respected safety requests I had. Everything was flawless, and Devin made great suggestions for photos when we had extra time left with her. I’ll never forget how perfect the day was, but the gallery that Devin delivered was over the top perfection. She captured our simple elopement in a way that was elevated, elegant, and sophisticated, yet still relaxed and spontaneous. Weeks later, I have not stopped staring at the pictures. Thank you, Devin, for giving us the most beautiful photos to remember one of the most special moments of our lives.
Jessica and Andy’s St. Francis Church Wedding in Hoboken | June 27, 2020
Jessica and Andy had one of the dreamiest first look photo shoots. Moreover, it felt truly Hoboken. To start, the cobblestone streets of Court Street and red brick were the perfect backgrounds for this incredible couple. After a sweet first look and then fun bride and groom portraits, Jessica and Andy got married at a micro wedding ceremony at St. Francis Church.

Devin is an absolute dream! Both my husband and I adore her, and are so lucky we found her to photograph our intimate wedding day. Like so many others, we’re a coronavirus couple and our summer wedding plans were completely thrown out the window. Determined to get married on our original date, we opted to move forward with a ceremony locally, despite all of our vendors being in another state where our wedding was originally planned. Because nothing in life is for certain (can I get an amen!?). I opted to wear my wedding gown, gather our family members, and photograph the day.
Enter Devin! She was an absolute breath of fresh air. We hired her a month before we said ‘I do’, put our trust in her, and she did not disappoint.
She was professional from start to finish. She communicated with us regularly and was extremely well organized. On top of that she was sweet, optimistic, flexible, and understanding—all the things we need more of in 2020. Even up until the final hour, she was scoping out new first look locations for us because it was supposed to rain. Not only did we love working with Devin, but we LOVE the pictures she took. She is a very talented photographer! We were blown away when she sent us the previews and are so happy she captured the most important day of our lives for us. We highly recommend Devin!!
Ashley and John’s Micro Wedding at the Ryland Inn | July 18, 2020
The Ryland Inn was always one of our favorite wedding venues here at MSM and I loved working with Alan at Murphy Studio to capture Ashley and John’s micro wedding. This wedding was filled with so many favorite moments – from Ashley’s first look with her father (cue the waterworks) to tequila shots to seal their vows during the ceremony, Ashley and John’s micro wedding at the Ryland Inn was truly unique to the two of them.

To say we had the best experience with Devin is an understatement! Due to Covid, like many others we decided to push our big celebration until next year. Well, I called Devin to tell her what we had planned, small family ceremony this year, and push the rest to next year. Devin couldn’t be any kinder, or more gracious to offer her services for BOTH of our celebrations.
After researching tons of different photographers, as soon as I spoke to Devin, I knew she was exactly what I was looking for. She is SO excited to be apart of your special day, she is kind, generous, and not to mention an INCREDIBLE photographer. It is easy to see how much she loves, and values, her craft and her clients. I am so so excited to get to continue to work with Devin throughout this year upcoming year! Thank you Devin for absolutely everything!! For all of you brides out there truly look no further, she is by far the absolute best!
Sarah and Ryan’s City Hall Wedding | September 1, 2020
There has always been something romantic about jetting off to city hall to get married because you can’t wait ANY longer – right? Sarah and Ryan’s city hall wedding was so intimate. When they were forced to postpone their larger celebration to 2021, they decided to head to Jersey City and get married at City Hall on their 8-year dating anniversary. Additionally, Sarah wore a dress attempting to recreate her mother’s wedding day look, as a way to honor her memory on their wedding day.
Vendor Squad
After the ceremony, we took a few photographs at various locations around Jersey City. Because they chose to get married on a weekday, we could take advantage of prime locations that are usually too busy/less ideal on the weekends! You can find more details about their City Hall Wedding on the blog here.
I found Devin two and a half weeks before my last minute planned intimate wedding ceremony to my now husband on our 8-year dating anniversary (we did this due to possibly postponing our wedding reception because of COVID-19 and wanted to get married instead of waiting over another year). Devin responded immediately and I knew she was the perfect fit once I got off the phone with her. She was very involved from start to finish, which definitely helped my anxiety surrounding planning a last minute wedding ceremony!
On the day of, Devin truly was patient, kind, and amazing.
She made me feel so calm with all the last minute things that went wrong (forgot my bouquet and she helped connect me to a florist that can make one within 30 minutes, etc.) and helped capture all the pictures I had in mind for that day. I would say the pictures she captured went beyond my expectations. I would recommend her to anyone for any special event and I will definitely be using her for other events in the near future!
Kristie and Conor’s Long Island City Elopement | September 19, 2020
Another Collaboration with New Jersey Videographer Alan at Murphy Studio! Kristie and Conor’s Long Island City Elopement was planned in just ONE week and was flawlessly executed. To start, the two of them got ready in their apartment in Queens which made the perfect first look location. (No liquor laws if you want to pop some champagne!) We live streamed their family during the ceremony – some of which were international! In short, it was the most incredible way to spend an afternoon in Long Island City.

Jenny and John Got Married Without an Officiant at Race Street Pier, Philadelphia | September 25, 2020
MSM went on a bit of a road trip for this one but it was SO worth it. Did you know that couples can self-marry without an officiant in PA under Quaker Law? Jenny and John got married at Race Street Pier in Philadelphia. After, they popped champagne and tried out the new best way to drink Champagne – Chambongs! Jenny and John operate in a “work hard play hard” kind of vibe and I love it. After the ceremony, we took their bride and groom photos at various locations, including the street they live on!

Alyssa and Chris’ City Hall Wedding in New Jersey | October 13, 2020
I know I am probably biased but the City Hall in Jersey City makes for an incredible wedding venue. Firstly, the architecture of the balcony is stunning, and I personally always love photographing outdoors and taking advantage of natural lighting. Secondly, Alyssa and Chris got married on a Tuesday so we were able to take photos around the city while there weren’t as many people around. We also included their dog in a few shots which is always a favorite here at MSM!

Julie and Matt’s Van Vorst Park Ceremony | November 6, 2020
I absolutely loved getting to know Julie and Matt. After a sweet first look, the ceremony took place outdoors at the Van Vorst Park Gazebo in New Jersey. During the ceremony, it was really intimate with only a few of their closest family and friends to witness the two of them exchanging vows. Above all, if there is one thing we can take away from 2020, it’s that bigger doesn’t always mean better. Moreover, Julie and Matt planned their wedding through Love Wed Collective where I am honored to be the wedding photographer. I love that even though we created micro wedding “packages” for couples getting married in New Jersey and New York, each wedding is still truly unique. I loved the reception location!

In December, We trekked up to Anne’s hometown in Hudson, New York for this winter wedding and it was worth every minute. Michelle and Rob’s Essex Fells Country Club Micro Wedding | July 11, 2020
One of my favorite moments at Michelle and Rob’s wedding at Essex Fells Country Club was after the ceremony when Michelle and Rob transitioned seamlessly into their first dance as husband and wife. The space was so intimate and romantic, I loved the soft lighting of the candles and chandelier. After, they enjoyed toasts and cake cutting on the patio deck. During the photos, we even had a rainbow come out for them!

We are very grateful to have booked Devin for our wedding. She was amazing throughout the whole process! We had to replan our wedding due to COVID-19 and Devin was extremely flexible with our changing plans. She offered guidance and walked us through our wedding day timeline. She was professional, organized, and very responsive. We would recommend Devin to anyone looking for a wedding photographer!
Angie and Eric’s Evangel Church Wedding | August 1, 2020
I love a first look but for couples who prefer to keep things more traditional, holding hands before the wedding (without looking at each other) is a pretty amazing alternative. These two said a prayer together before Angie walked down the aisle and it was so intimate and special. The church Angie and Eric got married at did a phenomenal job with the lighting – it felt like we were in another world watching the two of them get married (under one of the most incredible floral arches!).

Working with Devin was amazing! I got married on August 1st, 2020. Through the uncertainty of COVID-19 Devin was so sweet and made us feel so comfortable. She was easy to work with, hard working and on top of things. I love that she was genuinely excited for us. Our photos are beautiful and it shows how gifted she is. I’m happy that she was apart of our day.
Meghan and Tom’s Micro Wedding at Pier A Hoboken | August 26, 2020
Meghan and Tom’s Micro Wedding at Pier A Hoboken was so sweet. Together with their closest friends and family, they exchanged vows right in front of the water. Although not always the most private location, we got pretty lucky – both for the ceremony and some bride and groom photos by the water after. Meghan and Tom couldn’t wait to get married, but they postponed their larger celebration to 2022 and I can’t wait to photograph them again!

Devin is one of the easiest professionals to work with, on top of being such a kind human being who puts true & sincere thought behind each shot, giving you options you never would have thought of on your own. She has a keen eye and leverages the environment around to capture beautiful moments from your event.
My husband and I began planning with Devin prior to Covid and when we decided to change our wedding plans to an outdoor micro ceremony in Hoboken, Devin was so supportive, flexible, and encouraging. Her enthusiasm and optimism made us feel confident that we would have an incredible ceremony! Her pictures are wonderful and proofs were shared very quickly. We are so grateful for these beautiful photos! I cannot wait to create a wedding book & work with her again in 2022 for our postponed reception!

Chelsea and Jeremia’s Long Island Beach Ceremony | September 13, 2020
This was a really special day. Like so many other couples who were forced to postpone, Chelsea and Jeremia chose to get married on their original wedding day in May. Because of COVID delays, their wedding attire hadn’t arrived by their wedding date so when it did finally arrive they chose to get dressed up with their closest family and friends and exchange vows on September 13, 2020. This was another collaboration with New Jersey videographer Alan at Murphy Studio and during the getting ready photos, Jeremia mentioned that Chelsea and he had a favorite song. During the getting ready photos, Alan suggested after the vows they have their first dance and he would play the song on his portable speaker. It was the most incredible spontaneous touch to a perfect day!

Devin was our favorite vendor to work with! Our wedding was scheduled for May but due to the pandemic it was postponed and then ultimately canceled. Devin’s flexibility and kindness allowed us to do a bridal photo shoot / micro-wedding celebration down in LBI. Her organization allowed for a stress free and fun day. On top of being the best at what she does, she is a joy to work with! Our pictures came out beautifully and we are so grateful to her. Devin allowed us to have a beautiful memory in a chaotic time, which is something we are so eternally grateful for!

After photographing Kerry and Shane’s wedding, I don’t feel like I head to the beach enough! Their wedding was just a fun day – everyone was excited to celebrate. Working with Devin from Mile Square Moments was the dream! Not only are her photos beautiful, but she is so professional and so fun to work with and I felt like we were in good hands every step of the way with our wedding photos. Devin was extremely flexible when it came to re-scheduling multiple times for both the wedding and engagement photos and was extremely accommodating to updating our contract and giving us a new contract when it came to scheduling multiple events.
Devin handled Covid changes with a lot of grace and really put us at ease with all of the changes we had to make in addition to our photography needs.
She is so punctual and made sure to arrive early for both our engagement and wedding photos to scout out locations. She chose great locations for both! Devin really made each photo shoot very fun and she is so sweet and has a great balance of professionalism and friendliness that will put you at ease as you take photos. Devin made sure she knew every single detail of the wedding day and what shots were needed. The spreadsheets she put together for us to fill out (including day of timeline, shot list, etc.) really allowed us to give her all the details she needed.
We had a lot of trust in Devin day of and I was never worried she wouldn’t capture what we needed.
She was on top of everything! And to top it off, we have been very blessed to have Devin capture our proposal, engagement photos, and our wedding day. We can’t wait for her to take photos at our second larger celebration! We are literally blown away by her photography and are so satisfied with all our beautiful photos. Devin is the most organized person we worked with and we cannot thank her enough for the amazing photos she took! She is extremely talented and we will continue to recommend her to anyone who asks!
Mary and Manan’s Church Wedding in Tenafly, New Jersey | September 26, 2020
Mary and Manan chose to have a micro wedding and postpone their original, larger celebration to the spring of 2021. Alan at Murphy Studio was the New Jersey wedding videographer, and we are both going to be documenting the summer celebration as well. I can’t wait! At the core, weddings are about merging two families together and one of the things I LOVED about Mary and Manan’s wedding day, was that they really combined both family’s traditions in their Catholic ceremony.

Tania and Sam’s Van Vorst Park Wedding in New Jersey | October 15, 2020
This was another Love Wed Collective micro wedding and it was REALLY special. Seriously, these two really made their wedding day their own, with MANY sentimental details. After a charming first look, we headed to New York where they had their very first date for some bride and groom portraits. Tania’s parents were unable to travel for the wedding because of COVID restrictions, so they made sure they live streamed throughout the day to include them. Where do I even start?! Devin was absolutely amazing from the first moment we booked her! She made everything so easy, which was super helpful. Especially for someone who is very organized and worries about every little detail. Devin was attentive, organized, and passionate about her work. She kept in constant communication, and was so helpful! We were worried we wouldn’t be photogenic because we hate having photos taken of us, and she made them candid and natural. She truly made our wedding come to life!
I am in complete awe in the pictures she took, and they speak for themselves On truly how amazing she is. Thank you for making our day so special and capturing every moment! We will treasure these photos forever. I would recommend her to anyone!
