I’m moving to Pennsylvania! As I sit down to pen this farewell letter to the place that has been both the canvas and backdrop to countless love stories, my heart is filled with a whirlwind of emotions. I first moved to Hoboken over a decade ago. Hoboken, the Mile Square City, has been my muse, my home, and the birthplace of Mile Square Moments—a journey that I have poured my heart and soul into for the last seven years.
Today, I want to share with you the exciting new chapter that lies ahead, both personally and professionally. But before I do that, let’s rewind and revisit some of the absolute highlights that have etched unforgettable memories in the cobblestone streets of Hoboken. Truly, you have all made this such an incredible time for me and while I’m excited to start my next chapter (with a lot of unknowns), I couldn’t be more grateful for each and every connection made.
Spending the Last Seven Years Creating Mile Square Moments
From the very beginning, there was one unwavering goal driving every frame captured, every candid smile preserved—to ensure that each couple I had the privilege to work with experienced the best wedding day imaginable. It was a labor of love, a journey filled with sleepless nights, countless shutter clicks, and an unyielding dedication to excellence. As I start to really take time to reflect, I’ve learned and grown so much over the last seven years.
It truly was a great honor to be trusted to be behind-the-lens on your most important days, and I am still genuinely so excited to connect and help new couples however I can. My blog (which has been another labor of love documenting some of my favorite love stories!), will remain up for the foreseeable future so couples everywhere can continue to gather inspiration for their wedding day.
On top of the beautiful work memories I’ve made here (I still feel beyond honored to call this a job!), I also made some beautiful personal memories too. Hoboken will always be where Matt and I fell in love, got engaged, and bought (and fixed up) our first home. It’s where I loved looking out the window and popping out for air between serious wedding editing sessions. It truly was the perfect place for Matt and me to spend our newlywed years.
While a part of my heart will always be in Hoboken, I do think a part of me knew I would eventually move back to my home state of Pennsylvania. I love slowing down here, taking in the picturesque rolling hills, and being closer to family. It was a hard decision, but I think once we decided, we knew it was the right time to make the move. It happened fast once we did!
What’s Next for Me (behind my move to Hollidaysburg, Central Pennsylvania)
As I step away from the bustling world of New Jersey wedding photography (and the lively city of Hoboken), I find myself in a unique place, one where I don’t have a crystal-clear roadmap for what’s next. For someone who has lived by a checklist and a detailed timeline for the last seven years, I have to admit that there’s a certain charm in the uncertainty. These days, I’m relishing the simple joys of slowing down, savoring weekends spent with my wonderful husband Matt, and basking in the coziness of our new home. It’s a change of pace that I welcome with open arms, a chance to reconnect with the moments that matter most.
While my love for weddings and capturing love stories remains unwavering, I’m consciously limiting myself to smaller weddings and venturing into new horizons like branding photos, family portraits, senior sessions, and those passion projects that have been patiently waiting in the wings between engagement season and wedding season. I really do feel like I’m entering a chapter of exploration and self-discovery, a time to embrace the versatility of my craft and expand my creative horizons.
Special Mentions to the People Who Truly Made My Time in the Mile Square City Unforgettable
If you know me, you know I’ve always believed in people first, and have always prioritized building deep relationships with people. While there really isn’t enough time to go through every single person who has made a profound impact on me and my life, I wanted to shout out a few incredible people and vendors who have helped shape Mile Square Moments into what it is today.
Alane from Write Pretty For Me (My Studio Partner!)
First, sharing a studio with Alane, the wedding calligrapher behind Write Pretty for Me, was a chapter of my professional journey that I’ll forever treasure. During the challenging year of 2021, when many of us were still navigating the turbulent waters of uncertainty, Alane and I found ourselves working tirelessly from 9 to 9 every day. We were truly “in the trenches” together, facing the demands of our industry head-on. I am beyond grateful for Alane’s presence and support during that pivotal time. And I love that, amongst the chaos, we found time to venture out and see our favorite punk rock bands live in concert.
Alan From Murphy Studio, An Incredible New Jersey Wedding Videographer
I partnered with Alan at Murphy Studio a few years ago and it’s been an incredible experience ever since. Meeting someone who shared not only my vision but also my wedding outlook, style, and priorities felt rare, and I deeply valued our work together. From the very beginning, our collaboration was seamless, a harmonious blend of creativity and dedication to creating unforgettable wedding memories. Working alongside Alan was like finding a kindred spirit, someone who not only understood the essence of storytelling through visuals but also shared the same commitment to making each wedding an extraordinary and cherished event.
A Few Favorite Venues: Antique Loft, Lokal, Hudson House, and Battello
I’ve had the immense privilege of documenting weddings at a multitude of stunning venues in New Jersey (and beyond), each with its own unique charm and character. While every location is special, a select few have etched themselves into my memory as truly exceptional. Venues like Antique Loft, Lokal, Hudson House, and Battello stand out not just for their picturesque settings, but for the genuine care and dedication they poured into every couple’s special day. These venues shared our unwavering commitment to making each wedding a beautiful and enjoyable experience for all involved. They prioritized our couples’ dreams and visions, making it effortless to capture the love and magic that unfolded within their walls. It was an honor to collaborate with these venues, and I’m forever grateful for the incredible memories we created together.
Finally, a Huge Thank You to the Talented Wedding Photographers I Worked With
For any wedding day, it truly takes a village and I wasn’t always documenting weddings alone. I’m eternally grateful for some of the talented photographers I had a chance to work with, who also became dear, dear friends. We truly made magic together and you made every wedding day even more enjoyable. There are so many wedding photographers I’ve worked with and absolutely adored, but the three below deserve special mention for the many Saturdays spent together. From Rachel never hesitating to take the wheel after the adrenaline wore off after a long wedding day, to many meetings with Carol and Joe reviewing the timelines before each and every wedding day, everybody truly treated my couples like their own, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Farewell Hoboken! I Will Miss You!
As I scroll through my favorite galleries (featuring my favorite Hoboken locations, from Court Street to Columbus Park to Pier C), I just need to take one more second to tell you just how grateful I am for each and every one of you who have been a part of my journey before moving to Pennsylvania. You will always be a part of Mile Square Moments, and I’m only a DM away if you need anything!
