I am bringing you something really special today – both my first wedding of 2021 and a stunning New Jersey waterfront wedding. Jessica and Matt’s Jersey City wedding was such an amazing day – waterfront views, snowy backdrop, it really doesn’t get much better than this. In my post a couple weeks ago about finding a New Jersey photographer and videographer team, I mentioned that I really didn’t think I’d live in Hoboken, New Jersey as long as I have. All the New Jersey love stories – and these views – have kept me here and I couldn’t be more grateful. New York City Engagement Photos
I love connecting with my couples over engagement photos before the wedding! We took advantage of the fall foliage and they let me take lots of ring photos (I couldn’t help myself – just look at that stunner!). Jessica and Matt reminded me of my husband and me. They love going out to eat at new places and trying new things but also enjoy a night in. When Matt proposed to Jessica, they had just finished dinner at one of their favorite Jersey City restaurants – Downtown Taqueria – and headed back to their place for cocktails and Matt proposed.
Jersey City Wedding Photos before the Ceremony
Instead of having a first look, Jessica and Matt chose to take a little extra time with getting ready photos and photos with family. Unlike most family portraits taken with both the bride and groom, Jessica and Matt each got a few photos with just their sides of the family and wedding party. They got ready at the Westin and took photos by the waterfront. I could have spent the whole day photographing them in front of the water. After the ceremony, they got traditional photos of everyone together but these ones before the ceremony are some of my favorites from the day.
Jersey City Church Ceremony
We have some extraordinary churches in New Jersey and this one was no exception. Our Lady Czestochowa Church made the most incredible ceremony venue – with white walls, tall ceilings and traditional architecture. Jessica and Matt made their wedding ceremony more personal by having a couple close guests perform readings. After the ceremony, Jessica and Matt took more family photos and wedding party portraits with everyone.
Battello Wedding Reception
After Jessica and Matt’s wedding, Battello has firmly placed itself as one of my favorite wedding venues. The venue itself was breathtaking, decorated with tall candles, romantic string lighting, and most importantly – waterfront views. What I loved the most though, was how much fun it was. When I originally asked Jessica and Matt what they were most excited about on their wedding day, one of the biggest things was dancing! After a year of micro weddings, it was kind of nice to photograph a wild and crazy dance floor!
Scotch and Cigar Bar
Not only was the wedding a lot of fun, it might just be the classiest reception I’ve ever witnessed – complete with a scotch and cigar bar. Hand-rolled premium cigars that your guests can enjoy on a waterfront balcony, it really doesn’t get better than this. If you are looking for unique wedding favors or some subtle entertainment for your guests, I can tell you that this scotch and cigar bar was a hit with the guests!
A New Jersey Winter Wedding
Last but not least, I can’t forget to mention the true star of the show – Rocco! While we took the wedding portraits between the ceremony and reception, we were joined by Jessica and Matt’s precious 10-year-old Maltese. In the words of the happy couple “our photos wouldn’t be complete without him.” He was the perfect addition to their stunning winter wedding photos. Personally, I could not have been happier to capture their love story!
