2022 was extraordinary and I can’t think of a better way to end the year than sharing Ashley and Mike’s New Year’s Eve wedding on the blog today. The two of them will be celebrating their first anniversary this weekend and I could not be happier for this sweet Hoboken couple. Ashley and Mike met on Bumble in 2018, met at Bin 14 (and sat at the corner of the bar for three hours), and the rest is history.
I hope you enjoy these New Year’s Eve wedding photos (and a bit of their love story) as much as I do and we will see you back on the blog in the New Year! In the meantime, I share almost daily New Jersey wedding inspiration over on Instagram!
To First Look or Not to First Look?
You know that I love a first look. While we didn’t start Ashley and Mike’s wedding day with traditional getting ready photos, I met them on Court Street (one of my favorite Hoboken wedding photo locations) for a charming first look and to snap their outdoor wedding portraits. Although it was a chilly December morning, Ashley and Mike both completely melted once they saw each other. There is something truly magnetic that happens when I’m photographing two people who are each other’s best friend, and that was definitely the case here.
Like my husband and me, Ashley and Mike have lived in Hoboken forever and were excited to check out new outdoor locations for their wedding photos! I took them to a few of my favorite places (by the train terminal and the waterfront). Ashley and Mike love to go for long walks and explore on an average weekend, so they were up for all of my location ideas. I love when my couples love this Mile Square City as much as I do!
Looking for a waterfront wedding venue? Hudson House is another one of my favorites!
An Intimate Wedding Ceremony at St Ann Church
I have been privileged enough to photograph a few wedding ceremonies at St Ann Church over the years, and the beauty of the chapel gets me every time. The altar was decorated with a vibrant Poinsettia display, giving the church festive and cheerful vibes. Ashley and Mike’s ceremony was beautiful and traditional, and I couldn’t help but be excited about their next adventures! They both love to travel (Mike even proposed at home with pictures printed out of all their vacations together!) and their ceremony truly felt like the beginning of an incredible life together!
Evening Wedding Photos in Hoboken
After their wedding ceremony, I took Ashley and Mike downtown Hoboken for some more wedding portraits – this time at night! Together we embraced the Christmas lights and took cozy shots of the two of them. We even snuck a few photos with the NYC skyline in the background outside of their wedding venue (Antique Loft). These evening shots just might be some of my favorites from their entire wedding gallery!
New Year’s Eve Wedding Reception
Antique Loft was an absolutely incredible place to ring in the New Year and Ashley and Mike were prepared with sparklers, party hats, and a lot of NYE swag! When I asked them what they were most excited about on the wedding day, they both agreed that they were just excited for their friends and family to feel the love and have fun, while ringing in the new year! Ashley couldn’t wait to dance with Mike all night and then watch the ball drop. Keep scrolling for her outfit change because it was one of my favorite wedding reception dresses of the year!
An Incredible New Year’s Eve Wedding!
I love getting to know my couples personally (it’s one of my favorite parts about being a wedding photographer) and just looking back at these photos and getting to know Ashley and Mike, I feel like I can say confidently that the best is yet to come. And to be honest? It already sounds like it’s been incredible. Ashley loves when Mike plans their “date nights” and they always have so much fun together. From nights in making homemade pizza or pasta to wine tasting in Paris, they are destined for adventure and I am beyond thrilled for them! I will be bringing that energy in when I set my own New Year’s resolutions this year.
That’s a wrap! Cheers to an absolutely incredible 2022 and an outstanding 2023!
