Elizabeth and Blake are both actors, and I couldn’t wait to document their wedding photos in an artsy, romantic way. It was such a compliment to be chosen as their wedding photographer, and even though we did end up with some rain, their wedding day felt absolutely perfect for the two of them. The two of them enjoy spending time together and wanted something more lowkey (they both consider themselves homebodies!), so they hired Love Wed Collective to bring their NJ micro wedding visions to life. Elizabeth and Blake got married at Lokal Eatery & Bar in Jersey City, and their wedding felt like an authentic representation of their love story. I can’t wait to share their wedding photos on the blog today!
NJ Wedding Review
As a wedding photographer, there really is no better compliment than a couple taking time out of their busy, glorious newlywed schedule to leave a review. Check out these sweet words from the happy couple (I’m still blushing!).
Devin is one of those photographers who knows how to bring out the very best in her subjects! She’s calm, gives clear direction, and has the most uplifting presence. My husband and I felt so comfortable with her and our pictures look so natural because of it. When I look at our wedding album I see our love and our connection. She flawlessly captured our relationship and it’s incredibly special to look back on that memory! I highly recommend Mile Square Moments! I wish I could do it all over again because working with Devin was truly the most wonderful experience!
Mile Square Moments x Murphy Studio Collaboration
I always love a chance to work with Alan over at Murphy Studio and I absolutely love the way Elizabeth and Blake’s wedding films came together. Below you’ll see just a sneak peek but make sure you scroll to the end to catch their entire highlight film. We couldn’t agree with Blake more – the world would be a very grim place without art! I always feel beyond honored to be able to document my couples’ wedding days with fellow vendors that take their craft as seriously as I do.
First Look Wedding Photos in front of Jersey City Waterfront
When I asked Elizabeth and Blake what they were most looking forward to on their wedding day, they both agreed it was their first look. We met at the Hudson River waterfront, near their wedding venue, and the two of them had so much fun together during their wedding portraits (while being so romantic!). My heart felt incredibly full.
Speaking of romance, on their first anniversary, Blake surprised Elizabeth with a romantic canoe ride in Central Park. Elizabeth said it felt like something out of the Notebook, which Blake has never seen!! Personally, I felt like the rain during the end of their wedding portraits gave off the same Notebook vibes…
Usually, we will do a first look with a bride and her father before the groom’s first look, but on this wedding day we did the opposite. It was so special watching Elizabeth see her dad for the first time! We also had a quick first look with the groom and his mother, and honestly, I think this wedding day moment is underrated. Should this be a regular thing?
NJ Micro Wedding Ceremony at Lokal Eatery & Bar
When the rain started coming down, I couldn’t have been more grateful to have a backup plan and an incredible wedding vendor team. Elizabeth and Blake originally planned to have their ceremony at the waterfront, but because of the weather, decided at the last minute to get married inside. We worked hard to move furniture, rearrange pillows, and clear out the space in front of the wall art. It was all hands on deck to make their backup plan as dreamy as the waterfront.
Elizabeth and Blake’s wedding ceremony was short, sweet, and jam-packed with love. Officiated by their close friend, their ceremony was completely unique to the two of them. During their personal vows, they each choked up a little. I really believe their wedding ceremony was a perfect representation of their artsy and romantic side, and Lokal Eatery & Bar was the perfect wedding venue. After the ceremony, we snapped a few “just married!” photos inside the venue next to the stunning and dramatic wall art.

Skipping Wedding Reception Traditions
For Elizabeth and Blake’s wedding reception, they said goodbye to all of your typical wedding reception traditions. There were no introductions, no parent dances, no formal speeches. Even the cake cutting was a pie! A champagne toast from the bride and groom kicked off the reception. Personally, I absolutely love when couples make their wedding day their own, and Elizabeth and Blake’s wedding was definitely uniquely theirs. The team at Love Wed Collective did an incredible job putting everything together (make sure to scroll to the end for a complete wedding vendor list).
Jersey City Weddings
Elizabeth and Blake are two of the funniest people I have ever met. When I asked for their proposal story, Elizabeth said “Twas the night before Christmas and not a creature was stirring…except for a grown man wrapping himself in wrapping paper and attempting to sleep on the couch like a deranged Cindy Lou Who.” I am still smiling! Needless to say, Blake with an engagement ring was the best Christmas gift she ever opened. I hope you enjoyed their NJ micro wedding photos as much as I did and to Elizabeth and Blake, I can’t wait to see where your Jersey City love story takes you next!
Before you go, enjoy these portraits taken on 35mm film before checking out the rest of the wedding vendors that made their wedding day possible!
