The intimate outdoor wedding ceremony of Emily and Dan stands out as one of the most memorable moments of my year so far as a Hoboken wedding photographer. When capturing elopements and micro weddings, I always relish in the beauty of couples who prioritize what’s essential: getting married. Through conversations with Emily and Dan, I grew fond of their bond, so pure and genuine. They epitomize the beauty of finding joy and love in everyday moments, and their wedding was no exception. They asked guests to “come as they are” and celebrate the fact that they had decided on forever together. I couldn’t be more thrilled to share their outdoor wedding ceremony (and a little bit of their love story) on the blog today.
Elopement Photographer Review
I absolutely adored Emily and Dan’s intimate wedding. Before I share the details, spare me a moment to gush a little over this sweet review. I truly work with the best people!
Devin was an absolute dream to work with! We planned a last-minute, small-scale wedding ceremony and she was so supportive in helping us define the logistics based on her experience and expertise. I especially loved that she had lots of experience in smaller weddings and elopements, but recognized those required the same love and care as a larger wedding. Devin was professional, organized, and above all kind and enthusiastic. She captured the day exactly as we wanted it, full of love and ease. Would highly recommend her to any couple, regardless of if your wedding is 2 people or 200.
Signing their marriage license before their ceremony
I met Emily and Dan at their apartment to photograph the signing of their marriage license, and their friends and family were already there celebrating with them. Emily and Dan wanted to keep their wedding light, neither of them wanted a big wedding. They just wanted a small celebration of love with their immediate families (which was exactly what they got). There was pizza and snacks, and the excitement for these two to finally tie the knot filled the room before we headed to their outdoor wedding ceremony location.
A Gorgeous Outdoor Wedding Ceremony in Riverview-Fisk Park
Emily and Dan’s ceremony was a truly special and heartfelt occasion, filled with love and laughter. The beautiful Rivierview-Fisk Park provided the perfect backdrop. Emily looked absolutely stunning in her bridal jumpsuit, while Dan couldn’t have looked happier in his navy suit. And let’s not forget about their charming canine companion, Noodle, who added a touch of whimsy to the festivities with his handsome bowtie and playful energy. Following the touching ceremony officiated by the first friends they made together when they moved to Jersey City, Emily and Dan celebrated with a short but sweet champagne toast with their beloved guests.
Portraits After Their Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
Following their ceremony, we captured the outdoor wedding portraits for our charming couple at the picturesque Riverview-Fisk Park. Witnessing their love firsthand was heartwarming. While Dan had first helped Emily in a pinch as her emergency economics tutor in grad school (before a daunting macroeconomics final), the two initially rekindled their connection via Bumble (as Emily had been preoccupied with her studies during the tutoring sessions!). They had their inaugural date in 2019 at Small World Coffee in Princeton, where Emily spent most of the date fervently explaining to Dan all her critiques of economics and why his profession ought not to exist. However, romance prevailed, and Dan asked for a second date anyway. The rest is history!
Intimate Wedding Reception at Corto
Finishing off the incredible day, Emily and Dan headed to Corto for dinner, one of their favorite restaurants. They love to keep things casual and comfortable, so it really was such a fitting reception spot for them. The ambiance was casual and romantic – exactly what the two of them had wanted.
As neighborhood adventurers, Emily and Dan are quite the laid-back couple, and this characteristic shined through in their wedding day. Their friends and family were thrilled to celebrate with them, adding to the magic in the air. Truly, it was an unforgettable day! I just can’t get enough of weddings like this – it makes you feel even closer to the couple getting married. So much love in the air! It was a sincere honor to photograph these two. Here’s to many more small weddings and elopements like this one!
