Jillian and Jordan met on Hinge about 4 years ago over the holiday season. There are plenty of love stories that have proven that over the last few years, many people have found their person online. They both lived in Jersey City when I met them for their engagement photos and I could feel the connection between them immediately (one of my favorite parts of being an NJ wedding photographer!). If you are looking for outdoor wedding ideas and New Jersey wedding inspiration (from fellow foodies!), you are going to love this Perona Farms wedding.
Perona Farms Wedding Photography Review
Wedding planning can be hectic, but newlywed life can be busy, too! I’m always beyond honored when my couples take the time to leave me a review after their wedding day and I just had to share these kind words from Jillian.
Devin was a DREAM to work with. From the moment we inquired she was communicative, organized and so friendly. Wedding planning can be a stressful process and Devin made everything about our photos easy as can be. We had experiences with other vendors where we had to email 2-3 times before getting a response. We barely even had to email Devin throughout the planning process because she always got to us first! Scheduling and planning the day of timeline was such an easy process because of her. During both the engagement session and wedding portraits she made my husband and I feel so comfortable and was the biggest hype woman!
I got a bit stressed during family portraits on our wedding day and the calm demeanor and smiles Devin had throughout the whole day eased everything for me. We recently got our album back and my goodness, the photos are beyond our wildest dreams. She’s so talented and captured every emotion of our day BEAUTIFULLY. Highly recommend – would book Devin over and over again if we could!!
Perona Farms Wedding Details
Matching embroidered converse shoes were only the beginning of the Perona Farms wedding details. With a 4-piece wedding invitation suite (and a patterned floral envelope liner to match!), I soaked it all in from the moment I arrived. I loved all the monochromatic shades of blue hues! Perona Farms has two getting ready locations (for each side of the wedding party!) which made capturing their getting-ready photos a little easier and meant we didn’t have to budget any part of the wedding day for travel. There was so much excitement in the air from the second I arrived on location!
A First Look by the Willow Tree at Perona Farms
Jillian and Jordan wanted to ensure their wedding day timeline didn’t make them feel stressed or rushed. On top of that, they wanted to actually attend (and enjoy!) cocktail hour with their guests. Naturally, they chose to have a first look and take their wedding portraits before the ceremony. It’s no secret I love a first look (and truly, the more laidback timeline is just the beginning). Jillian and Jordan’s reactions to one another were priceless.
Once their formal wedding portraits were done, their wedding party met us for some group photos. I love the deep blue bridesmaid dresses and sharp grey suits they chose! Everyone looked absolutely stunning. As a fun secret detail, the guys wore Star Wars socks for a subtle nod to our groom’s love of the series!
After their group photos, the only thing left was to sign the Ketubah and get these two married! For those who may not know, the Ketubah signing is considered an integral part of a traditional Jewish wedding and is essentially a contract between the bride and groom (signed by the couple, their witnesses, and their rabbi). From there, Jillian and Jordan displayed it proudly on an easel during their wedding ceremony.
An Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Perona Farms
If you have been looking for an outdoor wedding ceremony venue in New Jersey, Jillian and Jordan’s wedding ceremony setup was breathtaking. Their wedding ceremony was also incredibly emotional – there was not a dry eye among guests (and there was a lot of laughter throughout as well). The two of them set up a tripod for grandparents who couldn’t attend to watch from a distance as well!
Cocktail Hour & A Stunning Wedding Reception Setup
Jillian and Jordan are major foodies (but if you scroll through the images below, you’ll realize I didn’t have to tell you that for you to know!). The cocktail hour snacks were mouthwatering before a deliciously satisfying 4-course seated dinner. They kept their wedding decor neutral and classic, but there was still a definite wow factor as you walked into their Perona Farms wedding reception. White florals and greenery filled the room!
Pure Joy During Their Perona Farms Wedding Reception
As soon as the doors opened to welcome Jillian and Jordan’s guests, the first course was already on the table waiting for them. The newlyweds wowed their guests with a fast-paced choreographed first dance, and then were lifted away to a short Horah dance! At the end of the day, Jillian and Jordan wanted to ENJOY their wedding day and make their reception feel like a huge party. Mission accomplished!
A little behind-the-scenes nugget: Jordan proposed to Jillian in their apartment on a random Thursday and caught Jillian completely by surprise! He had a Lego setup of people getting married, 10 dozen roses, and a sushi tray! It made sense that raw fish would make an appearance on the wedding menu since the two of them love a night out at Domo Domo.
Another sweet menu moment? Jillian’s uncle cut a slice of the Challah after Jillian and Jordan watched a video of her grandfather doing a prayer over the Challah before the wedding (as he was unable to attend). This was one of those moments where you just had to take a step back and appreciate all that technological advances have given us!
All You Need is Love & Candy!
Finishing off the evening was a visit from My Treat Truck! These have to be some of my favorite photos from the entire gallery. Jillian’s wedding reception dress was so playful against the colorful backdrop of all of their favorite treats. It was the perfect end to an incredible evening for these fun foodies!
That Concludes Another New Jersey Love Story!
I will leave you with Jillian and Jordan’s engagement photos and (if you keep scrolling…) a list of the rockstar wedding vendors they trusted with their wedding day. It truly was one of those weddings that remind me how much I love what I do and I was so grateful to connect with the two of them. I know I say this all the time, but I am always honored when couples choose me to document their wedding day. I can’t wait to see the love stories that 2023 brings!
The pizza reappearance you have been waiting for! I love when my couples feel comfortable enough in front of the camera that they can be themselves with one another and just have fun (I insist on it!).
