I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of the stunning skyline we have here in Hoboken, New Jersey, which made for a stunning backdrop to Meghan and Tom’s micro wedding. I am so excited to share this Hoboken micro wedding you all today! Meghan and Tom got married right on Pier A and it was a gorgeous celebration. These two are so sweet. Together with only their closest family and friends (and some live streaming), I had the chance to take this beautiful couple’s micro wedding photos after their original plans were halted by COVID-19 restrictions. They have rescheduled the larger celebration of their love to November 2022, but after their micro wedding, I can’t wait to photograph the next celebration! Let the countdown begin!
New around here? Mile Square Moments is a wedding photography company based in Hoboken, New Jersey, and we love photographing love. We say, you might be an MSM couple if you aren’t afraid to get up close in public, but equally enjoy an evening in with Netflix and a bottle of wine. Is that you and yours? Pier A Hoboken Wedding in August
Pier A was the perfect wedding ceremony location on this summer day. Although not always totally private, we had all the space we needed for an INCREDIBLE minimony (small wedding ceremony for those of you unfamiliar with all the new COVID words) and some fun bride and groom photos after the ceremony. Who else loves to celebrate with champagne? They popped a bottle and took a moment to celebrate with their closest family and friends when the ceremony was over. It was pure joy.
Postponing The Bigger Wedding to 2022
It has been heartbreaking for all of the wedding couples who have had to postpone, cancel, or change their wedding plans. With that being said, I have loved shooting all of the couples who have moved forward with their wedding plans in 2020. I can’t imagine a year with no weddings! There is something so special in the air with every wedding this year. A spirit of gratefulness. Everyone is thankful for every minute they get to spend with the ones they love. Let’s hope we carry this feeling to all future weddings!
With so many restrictions surrounding weddings right now, some couples are celebrating with a small wedding ceremony and cancelling their original plans. Many couples (like Meghan & Tom!) have chosen to have their cake and eat it too with a small wedding/elopement this year, and postponing the big party to 2021 or 2022. Meghan and Tom chose to skip any potential 2021 headaches and overbooked vendors and headed straight to Fall 2022. I’m so excited to be their Hoboken wedding photographer TWICE!
Zoom Weddings are the New Normal
Who would have thought live streaming would be the new normal? Zoom weddings (and alternative live streaming platforms) are almost a necessity now. Couples live stream their wedding day or dial the people they wish could be there. In a world where only micro weddings are allowed, it’s a beautiful way to share the moment with everyone you love. Thank goodness for technology!
The other new normal? Your guests may want to (or have to) wear masks. That was a big Amazon Prime purchase over the last couple days. There are actually some cute branded ones where you can get your wedding monogram on them. Don’t worry, your wedding vendors should be up to date on current regulations (even though they are changing quickly). We are all adjusting to this COVID-19 wedding world and the challenges it brings. At Mile Square Moments, we love celebrating love exactly how it happens. We love working with all the couples getting married who just can’t wait!
A wedding on the New Jersey waterfront
In addition to the Pier A Hoboken wedding ceremony, we took bride and groom portraits outside near the New Jersey waterfront. Meghan and Tom were so sweet together. I love when a couple isn’t afraid to kiss and get close. We found a more secluded area by the water and took some traditional bride and groom photos!
It seemed like everything was on our side on this August day. Meghan’s white and blush wedding dress was stunning. They both had a seemingly effortless glow about them and once they were alone, it came out even more! As always, Bloomie Flower Studio did an incredible job with the florals as well. The bright color palette of the bridal bouquet really popped!

I hope you enjoyed the photos of Meghan and Tom’s wedding as much as I enjoyed shooting them! Do you have any information about having a ceremony on one of these piers in Hoboken? I love the idea of doing a ceremony on one of the piers. Or at least where I could find that information? Thank you!
Hello! From my experience at the ceremonies I’ve shot on piers, you don’t need a permit to have a ceremony on the piers unless you’re setting up chairs or installations of any kind. You’re free to gather on the pier with your officiant and guests any day or time to get married! I suggest checking the city calendar to ensure no events are happening on the piers or locations nearby so your ceremony is not disrupted. Thank you!
