Over the last few years, I’ve really embraced my love for micro weddings. Truly, nothing makes my heart flutter quite like being invited into a room full of my couples’ closest family and friends to document their wedding day in a way that captures the genuine emotion that ensues. Another reason to choose to keep your guest list small? Unlimited options for unique and interesting wedding venues. Fast forward to today on the blog, I have the absolute pleasure of featuring Stacy and Eric’s yacht wedding. Trust me, if you are new around here, it’s only the beginning of micro-wedding inspiration!
A First Look on Maxwell Pier
On April 24, 2018, these two met for the first time at Grand Vin in Hoboken (after connecting on Hinge). What was supposed to be a casual Tuesday night with a glass of wine turned into a late night of endless conversation. Almost exactly three years later, Eric proposed on the waterfront in Hoboken. Therefore, it only made sense to return to the water to start their wedding day! I met Stacy and Eric at Maxwell Pier, where the two of them exchanged a private first look before reading their personal vows to one another. Although the weather seemed uncertain, the NYC skyline was still in (almost) perfect view.
Halfway through, their sweet dog Zac met us for some wedding day portraits! He was looking like the SWEETEST boy and so well behaved, too! He was so happy his humans were making forever official!
Then, as their wedding ceremony time approached, their wedding party met us to take some portraits before they had to board the yacht! If you have been waiting for a permission slip, let me just say this: You don’t need to have equal sides in your wedding party. It should be your most important people, no matter what that number is!
Intimate Wedding Ceremony on a Yacht
Stacy and Eric exchanged their “I Do’s” and traditional vows aboard the yacht while still docked in Hoboken. As a wedding photographer, one of my favorite parts of the job is getting to know my couples personally, so that I can capture the chemistry that already exists between them naturally and authentically. I connected with Stacy and Eric right away, as they love Hoboken almost as much as I do. While they are typically homebodies who enjoy bingeing TV shows, they often make an effort to go out for “experience dates” instead of gifts. Their relationship is beautiful and effortless, and I made it my mission to capture that on camera.
Elegant Yacht Wedding with Manhattan Views
As a Hoboken wedding photographer, I’m no stranger to waterfront views of the NYC skyline, but yacht views take it up a notch. Stacy and Eric kept their decor classic and minimalist. Naturally, they wanted to let the beauty of their surroundings take the focus. After the ceremony, Stacy and Eric quickly snuck away for a quick moment to cut the cake and take a few “just married” pictures before joining their guests for a memorable cocktail hour and reception.
Romance-Infused Yacht Wedding Reception
Stacy and Eric wanted their wedding to feel like a giant party on the water, and just genuinely wanted their friends and family to have a blast. The two of them have such an easygoing nature, and their love for one another and their family and friends was contagious. It radiated throughout the yacht. From their first dance to the last photos of the night (on the deck overlooking the Statue of Liberty), everything was simply wonderful.
A Yacht Wedding to Remember
Stacy and Eric’s wedding day was absolutely incredible, and I would happily relive it over and over again. The two of them describe themselves and each other as “fun-loving and non-traditional” and honestly, it made for the most memorable evening celebrating these two. I was beyond honored to be included. I can’t wait to see what future adventures await them!
