I always love a restaurant wedding in Hoboken, but when Isa and John reached out and said they were getting married at my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in Hoboken, you can only imagine my excitement! Talk about a dream wedding! If you are looking for an untraditional wedding venue in Hoboken, you need to consider Orale. This was actually Orale’s first wedding EVER and it went so well that I can only hope this is going to be the newest hidden gem for couples in love. I know I can’t wait to go back (and I can’t wait to share the gorgeous and fun wedding details here on the blog!).
Hoboken Wedding Photographer
Every review swells my heart a little but this one had me almost in tears! I absolutely love connecting with each and every one of my couples and the only thing that ever matters to me is that they are madly in love! I loved capturing their wedding day at an untraditional wedding venue in Hoboken.
Devin with Mile Square Moments is simply put, to die for.

Getting Ready at the W Hotel
The W Hotel is always a great option for couples to book on their wedding days. It’s central to Hoboken which makes it easy to get around, and the rooms have incredible views (and natural light!). I love how Isa and John let their personalities shine in their details, from Isa’s gorgeous wedding dress to John’s comic book groomsmen’s gifts. No detail was too small – even John’s cufflinks were made of comic books!
I love connecting with my couple’s deeply, and it’s so special to see them just get to be themselves, unapologetically. One of Isa and John’s favorite dates together was heading down to Philly to attend the Marvel Comic Book exposition at the Ben Franklin Museum, so it was fun watching comic books make an appearance on their wedding day!
A First Look on the Hoboken Waterfront
I love when my couples embrace their romantic side, and I think that’s part of the reason I connected with Isa and John so effortlessly. This was definitely one of my favorite first looks – it was so incredibly sweet. The way he started crying the second he saw her was so special. Before their wedding day, Isa said she might need help relaxing in front of the camera but it was so clear how John just grounds her. She likes to say “he makes me feel held and free at the same time”. The way the two of them connect with each other is truly extraordinary.
Do you love an engagement story as much as I do? John proposed to Isa on the night they bought their condo together. He took her there to “measure” everything and as the sun was setting (and “their song” was playing), he popped the question in their second bedroom so that one day he could say to their child “I proposed to your mom in your room before you got here”.
And of course – I was thrilled to see their adorable rottweiler Chico again! He joined us for their engagement photos last year and let’s just say – he is a very lucky dog. It’s so sweet how he’s embraced his role as the love of their lives!
Outdoor Wedding Photos in Hoboken
After their first look, we continued to take their wedding portraits along the waterfront and in various other fun locations. Isa and John are such a fun-loving couple, and their energy is electric to be around. We even stopped for some street ice cream during their photos! The two of them love to spend time together over a relaxed dinner or adventuring out to cooking classes and excellent food was just naturally part of their wedding day.

A Wedding Ceremony at Orale
Although this was the first wedding Orale hosted, I don’t think you would have ever known. I loved all the details surrounding Isa and John, especially the wall of Jarritos sodas as their unique wedding ceremony backdrop. As you can imagine, their wedding ceremony pulled on everyone’s heartstrings and I loved watching their family and friends tear up and smile as they exchanged their vows. Everything was incredibly personal and the love they have for one another was absolutely radiating.
Reception at Untraditional Hoboken Wedding Venue
I don’t even know where to begin with their bespoke wedding reception. I can only hope the photos do their reception justice, as every inch of their wedding was simply one-of-a-kind and I don’t think I could possibly put it into words! Isa and John really wanted to enjoy their wedding day and remain present, so as a wedding photographer, I captured as many candids as possible of them without interfering.
You may notice a few more food photos than I usually include! As I said before, Orale is my personal favorite Mexican restaurant in Hoboken! On top of that, Isa and John added several of their own foodie touches: signature cocktails featuring edible photos of Chico, cake jar desserts for their guests, and charcuterie boxes for wedding favors. Their wedding cake even featured Chico taking a bite!
Although the concept of a second wedding dress for the reception isn’t new, I am loving how bold brides are getting. When Isa came out in her reception outfit, you couldn’t help but stop and stare! She looked equally stunning (obviously!) and they were both ready to party the night away with their family and friends!
A Beautiful Wedding for Beautiful People!
I could go on and on about how much I loved Isa and John’s wedding, but I hope if you’ve read this far, it’s clear. This was a Murphy Studio collaboration (read more about our photo/video team here!), so make sure you scroll to the end for their wedding video which further captures the spirit of the day! I love how our styles complement each other so well. We spent 11 hours with Isa and John on their wedding day capturing everything from their getting ready photos to getting down on the dance floor and it felt like it went by in a blink of an eye. Their energy was contagious. I know one thing for sure, their marriage is going to be fun!!
