Sarah and Amy came to me through Love Wed Collective – a micro wedding planning company right here in Hudson County, NJ. Love Wed Collective was built in 2020, as a way to help couples choosing to still get married with a smaller guest list, but still wanting an elevated wedding day experience. After an insane couple of years, many of us have come to appreciate the smaller weddings that are jam-packed full of love so I always love when couples book a package with Love Wed Collective. I’m a big fan of micro weddings! It’s been such an honor to be the photographer for many Love Wed Collective celebrations and it was an absolute pleasure to photograph Sarah and Amy as they exchanged vows at one of the most loving Van Vorst Park wedding ceremonies I have witnessed!
Outdoor Couple Portraits Before the Wedding Ceremony
I’m always excited when couples want to do things their own way. Sarah and Amy didn’t want “getting ready” photos, but they wanted an abundance of photos of just the two of them – madly in love. No formal first look required. Instead, we met at the fountain in Van Vorst Park. Sarah and Amy got married in the summer so we met later in the day and the weather was just perfect. We took photos outside all around Van Vorst Park and around the brownstones nearby. After that, the two of them walked to their ceremony at the Van Vorst Park Gazebo together.
Wedding Ceremony at the Gazebo in Van Vorst Park
Sarah and Amy’s wedding ceremony in Van Vorst Park was so incredibly moving. I got to the ceremony a few minutes before they did so I could photograph the live band setting up and adjust my camera settings for the lighting. The band set the mood as Sarah and Amy’s closest family and friends waited for them to arrive. They came shortly after and walked up the gazebo steps together. Sarah and Amy exchanged personal, meaningful vows. Everyone started to clap after their first kiss! Following the wedding ceremony, we took portraits with their family and friends right in front of the gazebo.
An Intimate Restaurant Reception at Franklin Social
One of the reasons I love working with Love Wed Collective is the incredible attention to detail that goes into the wedding reception. A small guest list doesn’t mean cutting luxury touches like custom menu cards, place cards, and stunning florals. When we arrived at Franklin Social, they let us sneak upstairs to the speakeasy to take a few indoor wedding couple portraits in front of the stunning stained glass window at June Tow Bar.
After that, Sarah and Amy enjoyed an intimate dinner with their closest family and friends in the back of the restaurant. They didn’t have a lot of “traditional” wedding reception touches like a first dance, but instead focused on just enjoying the company of their family and friends! Their wedding reception gallery was filled with lots of candids that (I hope!) bring them right back to how they were feeling in each moment. Every moment was precious.
Another Stunning Micro Wedding in 2021!
Just because restrictions have been lifted now, doesn’t mean that a micro wedding is not still an incredible first choice. As a New Jersey wedding photographer for the past almost five years (I still can’t believe it’s been that long!!), I can tell you there is an energy that is pure magic when you choose a smaller guest list. Whether you go big or small, I would love to learn more about you and how Mile Square Moments can tell your love story.
