2022 has been the year of creative wedding timelines! More couples are choosing a first look (or multiple!), opting to enjoy cocktail hour with their guests, and getting ready late in the afternoon for an evening wedding ceremony – it’s been so exciting to see! One of the reasons I absolutely love photographing micro weddings is because the timeline is generally a little more flexible, and I love using the extra time to really focus on exactly what makes each of the couples I work with unique. For Emily and DJ’s Hoboken wedding at Antique Loft, they chose an afternoon wedding ceremony and reception. I can’t wait to share the gorgeous details with you today!
Hoboken Wedding Photographer Review
Before I share the details of their stunning summer wedding at Antique Loft, I have to take a moment to revel in their sweet review. There were so many magical moments and I was honored to be a part of their day.
Devin is the absolute BEST photographer we could have asked for on our wedding day. She is very professional, but also the sweetest person ever. She is organized, efficient and reliable. Devin truly cares about her couples and makes it known you are not just another client. We love our wedding photos so so so much and are so thankful we chose her! Not to mention, we got married on THE hottest day of the year and she still walked around Hoboken with us to ensure we had perfect photos (while carrying our stuff and extra water) Thank you Devin!!!!!! 🙂
Getting Ready at the W Hotel
We started the day at the W Hotel, where Emily was getting ready with her best friends! Having a micro wedding, Emily and DJ didn’t have a formal wedding party, but it was clear that each and every one of the guests who showed up for them was special. I wouldn’t see DJ until the ceremony (they chose NOT to have a first look in exchange for a traditional aisle reveal), but with all of the joy in Emily’s room, we were off to a great start!
A Sunny Afternoon Wedding Ceremony at Antique Loft
The rooftop space at Antique Loft is absolutely iconic, and it’s easy to see why. I’ve been a Hoboken wedding photographer for almost six years now, and the Manhattan skyline as the backdrop while couples exchange their vows still takes my breath away. Emily and DJ read personal vows to one another during their intimate, unplugged wedding ceremony. They couldn’t take their eyes off each other.
I always like connecting with my couples and learning where there love story began and all the special dates (and evenings in) that led them to their wedding day. For Emily and DJ, it’s almost hard to imagine these two meeting in college as two young kids having their first date at a movie theater almost ten years ago! Just look at them now!
As soon as DJ broke the glass, it was time to celebrate! I absolutely love their expressions walking back down the aisle together as Mr. & Mrs.!
Afternoon Brunch Wedding Reception
Emily and DJ wanted a casual affair to enjoy with their family and friends, and that’s exactly what Antique Loft delivered. They are both laidback people (their ideal Friday night includes making dinner, catching up on their favorite TV shows, and going to bed early). I couldn’t relate more! Their summer wedding color palette was both elegant and colorful (in case you ever doubt that your wedding can be both!). The coral, blush, and yellow tones were mesmerizing. Emily and DJ served up brunch, which was a perfect reflection of them as a couple and a part of their love story. Last October, DJ took Emily to a fancy brunch in NYC by Central Park and proposed to her on the Bow Bridge right after!
Hoboken Wedding Photos
You may have caught it in their review above, but Emily and DJ got married on the hottest day of the year. For that reason alone, I was a little extra grateful that the plan was to capture their wedding photos a little later in the day! We ended up traveling across a few of my favorite Hoboken wedding photo locations, starting at Pier C and finishing on Court Street. I love that they trusted me to guide them through a variety of stunning backdrops in our Mile Square City.
Congratulations to the Hoboken Newlyweds!
Although they met in Pittsburgh, Emily and DJ are loving Hoboken almost as much as I do now. Before their wedding day, the two of them shared that they couldn’t wait to be surrounded by all of their family and friends just celebrating. Only on your wedding day can you get everyone together like that! The entire day was incredibly stunning and I loved the way they infused their personalities and parts of their love story into every single second. I was honored to document it! Sprinkling in some 35mm film wedding photos before I share the vendor list! Do you love these wedding gallery additions as much as I do?
