I’ve been waiting almost a year to share Kiera and Nathan’s autumn celebration on the blog. With their first anniversary approaching, I couldn’t wait any longer to celebrate them! Kiera and Nathan hosted their wedding at Tilly Foster Farm and filled the rustic setting with warm candlelight, vibrant florals (and sunflowers), and pumpkin accents – all the quintessential fall vibes. Fall just might be one of my favorite wedding seasons, and for good reason. I can practically feel the October air looking at these photos again! Today, I want to share a little bit of their love story (and a lot of their outdoor wedding portraits!), on the blog today! Make sure you read until the end for their epic proposal story!
NY Wedding Photography & Videography Review
This was another Mile Square Moments and Murphy Studio collaboration – and I couldn’t be more grateful every time our couples trust us to capture their day together (and leave us such thoughtful reviews!). I was honored to capture Kiera and Nathan’s wedding at Tilly Foster Farm!
Choosing to work with Devin was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. You can trust her with your most important day and she will deliver. My husband and I both hadn’t been to many weddings nor had helped anyone plan one so the vendor search was tough…until we talked to Devin!
She helped us plan the flow of events and told us about day-of items we didn’t even know about.
This ensured we would have ample time to get all the shots we wanted and still enjoy the celebration. Devin went above and beyond other photographers. Devin crafts each shot and has the talent to spot the beautiful details and moments that you will look back on. The included engagement shoot was wonderful to help us get comfortable in front of a camera and gave us great shots to use on our invites. We definitely recommend you book Devin for your wedding and her partner Murphy Studio for videography. Besides the incredible pictures and edits, you will be thankful for her great communication and calming presence on your big day.
Below is just a sneak peek from Murphy Studio (I will share the full highlight film toward the end!).
Getting Ready at Multiple Locations in NY
I met Kiera at Salon Uccelli for a few traditional getting ready photos, and then we headed back to Kiera’s house for her to get dressed. Her mom helped her into her wedding dress (such a sweet moment), and from there we had a first look reveal with her wedding party and then the first look with her dad. One of my favorite moments was recreating a photo of the two of them when Kiera was a child! It was such a special moment and I was so happy to be able to recreate that for them.
To make sure they didn’t see each other before their first look, Nathan got ready at Ethan Allen Hotel. I loved watching him and his groomsmen just have fun together while they were getting ready. There was such lightness and joy in the air.
A First Look at The Prayer Garden at The Church
The backdrop in the Prayer Garden at the church was an incredible first look setting, especially in the fall. Kiera and Nathan are like two peas in a pod. They can both be pretty routinized (like we all can!), but I love how they make a conscious effort to adventure outside of their comfort zone often. They love being outdoors and really wanted their first look to take place outside. Although the weather was a little uncertain, we agreed that a light drizzle would be okay, and we would only use the backup plan if there was a complete downpour (fortunately it didn’t come to that).
Usually, couples separate after the first look (before the wedding ceremony), but Kiera and Nathan walked right into the church together! I loved how they were soaking up every last moment before their wedding ceremony.
Loving Wedding Ceremony at Saint John The Evangelist Church
Kiera and Nathan love studying the bible and doing devotionals together, so I knew their wedding ceremony would be extremely meaningful. Kiera mentioned beforehand that she couldn’t wait to just stand up at the altar with Nathan on their wedding day! There were so many delicate details included in their unplugged ceremony: from live violinists to Kiera wearing a stunning blusher veil down the aisle. They read traditional vows, but because their faith is such a huge part of their life, I loved seeing that reflected in their wedding ceremony. When they kissed, everyone cheered!
Outdoor Fall Wedding Photos in NY
After the wedding ceremony, we headed to their wedding venue: The Barn at Tilly Foster Farm. Although we took a few wedding party and couple portraits at the church, a majority of their wedding photos were taken in the great outdoors. The fall foliage in the background at Tilly Foster Farm was breathtaking.
Kiera and Nathan were friends before they got together (they lived in the same dorm building!) and had their first date at Bareburger in Hoboken in the fall of 2015. Their second date? Walking through Central Park in the fall. Needless to say, their wedding taking place in the fall was a full circle moment.
Barn Wedding Reception at Tilly Foster Farm
When I asked Kiera and Nathan what they were most looking forward to, it was being married. Kiera moved to Texas to be with Nathan after the wedding, but it was nice to have their Texas friends fly in and finally meet their Hoboken friends, and have all of their friends and family under one roof celebrating. Because of the pandemic, many of them hadn’t met before! It was a wonderful evening filled with toasts, a wedding cake, and lots of dancing (all of the wedding reception favorites).
Make sure you scroll to the end for the list of vendors that made this gorgeous wedding at Tilly Foster Farm a reality! For even more from this incredible fall wedding, watch the highlight film from Murphy Studio below!
A Scavenger Hunt Engagement
I promised you an epic proposal story and here it is! When Kiera was visiting friends in Hoboken (you know I love a Hoboken love story), they went to Empire Coffee. When they arrived, the barista handed Kiera a handwritten note in Nathan’s handwriting. That was the start of the scavenger hunt. From there, Nathan’s parents (flown in from Delaware) were waiting for Kiera at Pier A (the first clue). They handed her the next puzzle for her to find her family waiting at Pier C. It was heating up when she found Nathan’s roommate (and best man – from Texas) to be the next stop at Maxwell Pier.
Finally, the final clue led her to Nathan waiting at Pier 14 where he asked her to marry him. The best part? Nathan lives in Houston and he wasn’t even supposed to be in town for another week! It was the most incredible surprise and such a sweet gesture for him to fly their family there too. I don’t know how he pulled it off not even living here, but you can tell this is only the start of their adventures!

This fall wedding at Tilly Foster Farm looks absolutely stunning! The warm candlelight and vibrant florals, along with the pumpkin accents, really capture the essence of autumn.
