If you loved the micro wedding inspiration from the Mansion at Natirar last week, you are going to love Krista and Rob’s micro wedding on long beach island this week. Although a completely different vibe, equally gorgeous and more proof that micro weddings are truly not “micro” on anything. Krista and Rob rented a Victorian Home for their wedding on Long Beach Island and held their wedding ceremony at Spray Beach Chapel. With only 30 guests in attendance, Krista and Rob shared their love for one another (and their love for Long Beach Island) with every single one of them. I can’t wait to share the unique details and memorable moments of their love story.
New Jersey Wedding Photo & Video
First, before I dive into the gorgeous wedding photos we took, I have to give a shoutout to my favorite wedding videographer partner – Alan at Murphy Studio. I always love working with him and just watching their highlight film below, it’s clear why. He captures the day just right every time and our styles fit effortlessly together. On top of that, he spends a lot of time on Long Beach Island so he was absolutely invaluable as we documented Krista and Rob’s LBI wedding together!
Renting a Home Wedding Venue
I love a home wedding venue, but let’s be honest, we don’t always have access to the kinds of gorgeous family properties we all see on Pinterest or Instagram! Enter: This gorgeous Victorian home that you can rent for your home wedding venue on Long Beach Island. Funny enough, when I asked Krista about her ideal weekend with the girls, she mentioned she would go “all real housewives, renting a boujee mansion with a chef and sit around in silk pajamas”. I like to think this was pretty close! It was definitely an ideal getting ready location and I couldn’t wait to come back to see it at night for the reception.
Once Krista was ready, we set her and her father up for a first look in the courtyard of the Victorian home. Both of them were so sweet and instantly broke into big smiles and happy tears. Father-daughter first looks have quickly become one of my favorite moments on a wedding day, and if you look at the photos below, I think you can see why!
A Loving Ceremony at Spray Beach Chapel
Krista and Rob had been together almost ten years by the time they got married, so this loving ceremony at Spray Beach Chapel was a long time coming. The two of them actually met on Long Beach Island (Rob was a lifeguard at Beach Haven and a regular at the Bagel Shack where Krista spent her summers working!) which made the location even more meaningful.
Long Beach Island is also where the two of them got engaged. Krista joked that it had been a long time coming, and the two of them planned a getaway weekend to LBI filled with all of their favorite things. From hiking in the pine barons, taking their sweet 9-year-old dog Daphne to the beach, to a fancy date night at Engleside – it was the perfect weekend getaway. On Saturday morning, on the beach in Beach Haven, they walked down the street to Krista’s aunt’s dock and he popped the question. The location was incredibly special (in their early years together – they spent nights on the same dock talking for hours!) and after Krista said a giant YES, her family came out of her aunt’s home to celebrate with them. Krista was surprised and thrilled.
At Spray Beach Chapel, their ceremony truly felt like a full circle moment on the same beach where so much of their love story began. The chapel was small, yet cozy, for their intimate guest list of 30 and everyone was thrilled to celebrate the next chapter with them!
Beach Wedding Photos
After the wedding ceremony, we took a few wedding couple portraits around the chapel. After, we headed back to their Victorian home rental (where they enjoyed beach access!) to take the majority of their photos. Once we got back to the beach, Krista and Rob were naturals in front of the camera. I got to snap photos of them effortlessly interacting and enjoying each other’s company in their first moments as husband and wife. This truly is the best part of my job!
PS: If you are looking for unique transportation, why not ask the local fire department? You have to use your hookups where you can! These fire truck photos were some of my favorites!
Victorian Home Wedding on Long Beach Island
Their wedding day ended with a small wedding reception on the porch of their Victorian home rental. Because we started the day here with getting ready photos, I was able to sneak a few photos of the intimate wedding reception set up for the evening before it got dark. Krista and Rob danced in the backyard underneath string lights. Their guests toasted to them as they started the next chapter of their love story. They both smiled and laughed as they cut their wedding cake. It was the most incredible evening.
A Stunning LBI Wedding
I always love a micro wedding, and I absolutely swoon over a meaningful, yet unique wedding location. Krista and Rob truly have it all: A beautiful and meaningful wedding location, a small guest list of family and friends who love them, and so much natural chemistry and friendship between them. I was beyond honored to be the one to document their day. If you love LBI as much as these two do, click the button below for more micro wedding inspiration on Long Beach Island.
