I have been saying on the blog for some time now that micro weddings can take advantage of unique wedding locations and venues but today’s micro wedding takes the cake! Technically, Jamie & Dylan got married at Jersey City City Hall, but afterwards they enjoyed their wedding reception on a gorgeous yacht on the Hudson River. The entire day was incredible and I can’t wait to share it with you on the blog. But just in case you are new around here, let me quickly introduce myself! I’m Devin, the woman behind the camera here at Mile Square Moments. I’m based in Hoboken but love to photograph love stories all across New Jersey, New York, and beyond (just ask me!). You can read more about me here, or check out more on the blog for inspiration all across the tri-state area. Or, skip the small talk and get in touch by clicking the button below!
New Jersey City Hall Wedding
I think Jersey City is home to one of the most stunning City Halls – inside and out! Even though Jamie and Dylan got married in April, the weather didn’t cooperate as much as we all would have liked. It was cloudy and rainy for most of the day! Although they originally planned to get married on the City Hall balcony, the interior of City Hall is still gorgeous. More than that, their wedding was so sweet – full of big smiles and happy tears. Although we all wish wedding days went exactly as planned, I always love embracing life’s real moments. Your wedding should be a celebration and not a production and if you hire me as your wedding photographer, I will find beauty in everything exactly the way things are. Their wedding ceremony was incredibly moving and intimate. You can see it in the photos!
Jersey City Wedding Photo Locations
After Jamie and Dylan’s City Hall wedding ceremony, we took a few outdoor wedding photos (in between the rain spells!). One thing I love about micro weddings as a photographer? It’s way easier to round up everyone for wedding photos! We took a few family photos nearby at Van Vorst Park – one of my favorite wedding photo locations in Jersey City. After that, Jamie, Dylan and I headed to Liberty Landing for some romantic bride and groom portraits! Do you recognize some of these poses?
Yacht Wedding Reception at Liberty State Park
Finally, we headed to Liberty State Park for their incredible yacht wedding reception. Can I be honest? Because of the weather (on top of the rain, it was SO windy!), Jamie and Dylan were a little nervous the boat was going to cancel on them. Instead, they ended up getting an incredible upgrade to the Manhattan II – a stunning 100-foot long yacht for their micro wedding guest list – because the company felt more comfortable with a larger boat on the water in the wind. It was more than enough for Jamie and Dylan’s intimate wedding cake and champagne wedding reception. I have to give them props, the yacht crew definitely over delivered! If you find this dreamy yacht wedding reception as breathtaking as I do, you can read more about their services here.
Micro Wedding Inspiration
Despite the rain, Jamie and Dylan’s micro wedding was one of the most beautiful days. You could feel how much the two of them loved each other in every single moment. Truly, that’s what I love most about being a wedding photographer. Connecting with real couples, telling real love stories, authentic smiles and tears. Couples that just can’t wait to start the next chapter of their lives together. It’s crazy how many of my couples say “we already feel married in our hearts, we are just ready to make it official”. That’s the kind of love I’m talking about! If you think I might be a good fit, make sure to get in touch here. I would love to take wedding photos that tell your love story.
